Eucona Stallsmith

SALEM - Eucona Stallsmith, 77, of 1924 S. Lincoln Ave., Salem died at 5 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at the Salem Community Hospital.

She was born Sept. 27, 1932 in Pikeville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Bernard and Lu Lu (Hite) Collins.

Mrs. Stallsmith was a housewife and had worked at the former Peoples Drug Store as a clerk. She was a member of the Salem First Christian Church.

She was also member of the Emmaus Sunday School Class and the Joy Luck Bible Study.

She enjoyed word search puzzles, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and all game shows. She loved watching birds and going fishing with the love of her life John.

Her husband, John "Jack" Stallsmith, whom she married June 26, 1955, preceded her in death June 2, 2007. A sister, Yvonne also preceded her.

Survivors include a son, John (Becky) Stallsmith of Parish, Ala.; a daughter, Jill Stallsmith of Salem with whom she resided; three sisters, Arizona (Robert) Eyster of Vienna, Ohio, Glema Burke of Pittsburgh and Jean McCurdy III of Colorado; a brother, Charles Collins of Kentucky; and three grandchildren, James Jackson II and Nellie and Benjamin Stallsmith.

Services will be held at noon on Wednesday at the Salem First Christian Church with Rev. Leonard Moore officiating. Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday at the church prior to the services. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salem First Christian Church Memorial Fund, 1151 East 6th Street, Salem, OH 44460.

Arrangements were handled by Stark Memorial.
