Salem Health office closed for holiday

SALEM-The Salem City Health District office will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Banquet in Salem

SALEM-The Men of Faith, a continuing sponsor, will serve the Banquet in Salem from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building. The menu offers pigs in the blanket with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, vegetables, fruit and desserts. Additional sponsors are needed. For information call 330-337-3125.

Christmas party

SALEM-The Salem Cancer Support Group has scheduled a Christmas party and gift exchange at 6 p.m. Nov. 30 at the DeJane home, 1841 Cleveland St. For information call 330-337-8489.

EP Rotary auction

EAST PALESTINE-The East Palestine Rotary Club's annual auction will be held from 4 p.m. to midnight Friday at East Palestine Elementary School cafeteria, 195 W. Grant St. Doors open at 3 p.m. featuring new merchandise and collectibles.

Leetonia 1949 lunch

LEETONIA-The Leetonia High School Class of 1949 plans to meet for lunch at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at Paul's Antone's.

Salem 1972 breakfast

SALEM-The Salem High School Class of 1972 will meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Dec. 5 at Skyline Diner.

Lisbon 1955 dinner

LISBON-The David Anderson High School Class of 1955 is invited to dinner at 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

Rigatoni dinner

SALEM-A benefit rigatoni dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Memorial Building. Proceeds will benefit Adam Buckius, a Salem youngster suffering from A.D.E.M. Hit and Run will play from 7 to 11 p.m. Cost is $5 to eat; or $3 for the band only.

Red Cross classes

SALEM-The Columbiana County Red Cross has scheduled the following health and safety classes in the Salem office at 230 N. Lincoln, Suite 101, and in the East Liverpool office, Kent State, 400 E. Fourth St. Classes include CPR, first aid, CPR and first aid combined, and CPR/FA recertification. Call 330-424-6610 for pricing, dates, and registration.

The Columbiana County Red Cross, East Liverpool and Salem Area, will hold its annual Holiday of Hope fund raiser campaign, dinner/auction on Dec. 4 at The Links at

Firestone Farms in Columbiana. Dinner will be served from 6:30 to 8 p.m. An auction starts at 8 p.m. followed by dancing until 11 p.m. with D.J. Dan Bing. All proceeds benefit local Red Cross programs and services. For information on tickets and pricing call 330-424-6610. Tickets will be available until Nov. 30.

Reading program

EAST PALESTINE-The East Palestine Memorial Public Library's Christmas reading program titled "Countdown to Christmas" began Monday. All ages are welcome to participate. Readers who read 12 library books and write the titles on a special bookmark available at the library can earn a prize. Limit one prize per participant. The last day to turn in bookmarks for a prize is Dec. 21. For information call 330-426-3778.

Christmas auction

GUILFORD LAKE-The Knights of Columbus Cross Roads Council will host its annual Christmas auction at 6 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Guilford Lake Ruritan Hall. Proceeds will benefit the Scheryl McDevitt's Relay for Life team (American Cancer Society) as well as other council projects. The new items auctioned will include toys, tools, knives, collectibles and candy. Food, beverages and baked goods will be available.

Aid for dogs

NORTH JACKSON-A winter food drive, to help feed all of the dogs in need this winter, will continue through Dec. 20. Food and other supplies may be donated at any participating drop-off location.

Anyone who donates will also be eligible to win a holiday basket of goodies. Just leave your name and phone number where you make the donation. The winner will be chosen on Dec. 20.

Drop-off locations include First Federated Church on Mahoning Ave. and Gem-Young Insurance on Route 45, both in North Jackson. For information call 330-538-2215 or email: dcpress@cboss.com. Northeast Ohio Labrador Retriever Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity and all donations are fully tax deductible.

Supplies needed include dog food, new or used, dog treats, dog toys, blankets or towels (new or used), paper towels and laundry detergent.

Lisbon hall of fame

LISBON -The Lisbon Alumni Association is currently accepting nominations for induction into the Class of 2010 Alumni Association Hall of Fame.

Nominees must be a Lisbon High School graduate and be graduated at least 10 years and must have demonstrated outstanding community service and/or lifetime achievement in their chosen field. Nominations should be sent to the Lisbon Alumni Association, P.O. Box 421, Lisbon, Ohio, 44432, and are due by Dec. 31. The Alumni Association was begun in 1987 and this past year issued 17 $1,000 scholarships to Lisbon graduates.

LISBON -?Lisbon Mayor Mike Lewis is accepting volunteers to serve on a committee that will review the village's zoning code and make recommended changes for village council to approve. Three people have volunteered so far. Anyone interested should contact Chery Mills, the mayor's secretary, at 424-5503.
