Taste of the Valley well-attended
YOUNGSTOWN-Nearly 500 guests gathered on Oct. 11 at Stambaugh Auditorium for the 18th annual Taste of the Valley, a fund raiser for Second Harvest Food Bank. Over 29 restaurants, including Spread Eagle Tavern and Inn of Hanoverton, took part to help feed hungry families in our community.
Chefs from outside the area served as judges for the event. Spread Eagle Tavern and Inn was selected for two awards - Best Appetizer and Best Overall. "The participation of the restaurants including Spread Eagle Tavern and Inn is what makes Taste of the Valley a success year after year," said Michael Iberis, executive director, Second Harvest Food Bank. "Spread Eagle Tavern and Inn is a long time supporter of the food bank and we offer our congratulations on being selected for the awards and our thanks for helping to feed hungry people in our community."
This year's event raised nearly $28,000 and the funds will enable the food bank to provide $420,000 worth of food to hungry people in our community. Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley provides food to 152 hunger relief organizations in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties. These organizations include church pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, shelters for battered women and after school programs.
