Crestview wins rematch with East Palestine, 20-14

COLUMBIANA — Different week, same result.
ITCL upper tier champions, Crestview, was able to hold off East Palestine Friday in a Div. V, Region 17 playoff opener, 20-14.
In Week 6, the Rebels (10-1) handed the Bulldogs (7-4) their first defeat of the season, 35-14.
This time around the game was much closer from the beginning.
After a scoreless first quarter, Crestview put up two touchdowns in the second frame as Dakota Norris scored from one-yard out and Carter Hill hooked up with Adam Britton from 13 yards away as the Rebels took a 13-0 lead with 5:48 left in the first half.
The Bulldogs would get on the board before the break as Shane Egresi hauled in a 14-yard Shane Peterson pass to bring the score to 13-6 at halftime.
Neither team scored in the third quarter, but Crestview took a two-score lead early in the fourth as Hill and Britton once again connected.
Peterson would close out the scoring with 5:10 left with an 18-yard run, but the Rebel defense held on for the win.
Crestview outgained East Palestine, 345 to 314.
The Rebels had 194 yards rushing on 50 carries. They were led by Britton who totaled 74 yards on 18 carries.
The Bulldogs had 121 yards on the ground on 27 attempts. Peterson led with 89 yards on 18 carries.
Hill finished the game 12-of-20 for 151 yards with two touchdowns.
Peterson was 18-of-31 for 190 yards with one score and two interceptions.
Crestview now advances to play Youngstown Ursuline which defeated Garfield Heights Trinity, 28-0.
NOTES: East Palestine finished the season with three straight losses after starting the year 5-0.
