Bond renewed for mother accused of abusing kids
LISBON - A Wellsville mother accused of abusing her children had her recognizance bond reinstated to keep her out of jail while her case remains pending, but under the condition that she stay at the residence where she's been living.
Michelle D. Darrah, 25, whose last known address was Clark Avenue, appeared in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court for a pretrial hearing Friday, a week after she failed to show up for another scheduled court hearing in her case. Her trial which had been scheduled to start this past week was cancelled and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Judge C. Ashley Pike agreed to reinstate the bond for her release. A new trial date was set for Feb. 23, with a status hearing set for 11:30 a.m. Feb. 19.
Darrah was charged earlier this year with four counts of endangering children related to allegations that she recklessly abused her children and created a risk to their health and safety last fall.
The indictment alleged the abuse of her 4-year-old son occurred in September 2008 and the abuse of her 3-year-old daughter occurred in November 2008.
