SALEM-Salem Community Hospital has received notification of its successful survey results from The Joint Commission. TJC is a national independent review organization that evaluates the quality and safety of the care provided in healthcare organizations. It audits the actual hands-on delivery of services through unannounced visits and tracer methodology.

"Tracer methodology is a technique used to evaluate care by following a patient's journey through the hospital, step by step. Every encounter the patient has is scrutinized to ensure that our staff is delivering high quality care, according to established policies and procedures, and in the safest manner possible," said Howard Rohleder, SCH President/CEO.

"This evaluation was completed during a rigorous three and one-half-day visit to our hospital which began on June 23. Three surveyors, including a physician, nurse and engineer, toured the Hospital, interviewed multiple patients and reviewed documentation as part of the survey process. They were very impressed with the level of care provided, the friendliness of our staff and the cleanliness of our facility," he said. "This unannounced survey provides insight into the way care is provided everyday at the hospital. I am very proud of the fine job the staff does on a daily basis." A fourth surveyor evaluated Salem Home Medical in a separate but simultaneous one day Joint Commission survey. SCH and Salem Home Medical were both awarded three-year accreditation status from TJC.
