FORT PIERCE, Fla.-David Eugene Swartz Sr., 71, of Fort Pierce, formerly of the Salem area, died on Nov. 2, 2009.

David was born in Alliance, Ohio, the son of Charles R. and Alice Myrtle Barnhouse Swartz.

David moved to Fort Pierce, in 1962 from Albuquerque, N.M. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and was employed at the Port of Fort Pierce as a ship agent for 10 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Vero Beach, Fl.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Dalma Swartz of Fort Pierce, Fla.; three sons, David Swartz Jr. of Fort Pierce, Fla., Russell Glen Swartz of Green Cove Springs, Fla., and Gary James McLeod of Jupiter, Fla.; two sisters, Nancy J. Gagnon of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Sandra L. Lewis of Galena, Ohio, a brother, Charles R. Swartz of Vero Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Rose Divita Swartz, two sisters, Norita Satterfield and Peggy Noles, and a son, Larry McLeod.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Haisley Funeral and Cremation Service, Fort Pierce, Fla.
