Parade in Salem planned Dec. 5

SALEM-The "Welcome Santa to Salem" parade, sponsored by the Salem Retail and Business Association and the Salem News, begins at 1 p.m. Dec. 5. Entrants from last year's parade will receive an application in the mail in the next several days. Any group interested in participating in the parade should call the chamber of commerce office at 330-337-3473 for a parade application.

EP BOE will meet Monday

EAST PALESTINE-The East Palestine City School District Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the EPES Media Center.

Free, hot lunches resuming

SALEM-Free, hot lunches will resume next week at the Salvation Army, 1249 N. Ellsworth Ave. The meals will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. For more information call 330-332-5624.

Retired registered nurses will meet

SALEM-Area retired registered nurses are invited to meet at noon Nov. 4 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club, 12688 S. Salem-Warren Road.

Concealed handgun class set

SALEM-A concealed carry handgun (CHL) class begins at 8 a.m. Nov. 21 at the Salem Hunting Club. Beginners as well as experienced levels are welcome. The class entails 10 hours of classroom and two hours range time with NRA certified instructor Chris Harben. Successful completion of this class meets all state requirements that will enable participants to start the application process to receive a concealed handgun license. Christmas Home Tour planned

EAST PALESTINE-The East Palestine Town and Country Garden Club is announcing its Christmas Home Tour to be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 13, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 14. This year's theme is "An Old Fashioned Country Christmas." Tickets are $10 and available at DND'S Restaurant, Flowers Straight from the Heart, The Sunflower Seed, Endia Wisser's Photography, Vivian's in Columbiana, Town and Country Nursery in New Springfield and 1820's in East Palestine. The five decorated homes include The Herriott residence "A Taste of a Country Christmas;" The Huff residence, "Racing into Christmas;" The Dunlap residence, "A Victorian Christmas;" The Fruit residence, "Primitive Treasures Borrowed from Nature;" and The Patrone residence, "Ye Old Time Christmas." Former operators will meet

SALEM-Former AT&T-Ohio Bell Telephone Operators will meet for breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 19 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.
