Salem falls in district title game

POSTED: October 30, 2009

Division II Girls

Soccer Finals

Chagrin Falls 5, Salem 1

CHAGRIN FALLS -The Salem Lady Quakers soccer team was upended in its quest for a district title Thursday in Chagrin Falls, as the team fell 5-1.

Hallie Hank had Salem's lone goal. Allison Thompson had 22 saves in goal including one penalty kick stop.

"Overall we played a very strong game," head coach Travis Zeigler said. "The girls were up for the challenge, and in our eyes they were succesful. These girls have worked so hard to get this program where it is today."

"Making it to the district finals two tears in a row is just a start. This girls soccer program is going places. For the seniors, this is not the way the wanted their high school careers to end. Hopefully they take a positive away from their experience and carry it with them where ever that may be. As for the rest of the team, I think if I told them there was practice Saturday they would all be there. They are always moving forward and ready to work."
