Perry Township reports

Animal complaint

Police responded to the 400 block of Benton Road at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday and assisted the county humane officer investigate an animal complaint. The owner was given 24 hours to correct the problem or face charges.

Harassment

Police responded to the 1300 block of Southridge Dr. at 8:59 p.m. Tuesday for a man honking a horn in the driveway. The person was gone when police arrived.

Salem reports

Fight

Three officers responded to the 800 block of E. 3rd St. at 3:57 a.m. Thursday for a fight in progress following a 911 call. Police met with the complainant outside the building and observed a window smashed out in the lower level of the apartment. The complainant advised a known male arrived at her friend's basement apartment where the damaged window was located and smashed the window while everyone inside was asleep. She advised that the suspect fled the area in his tan Chrysler Concorde. One officer attempted to locate the suspect and his vehicle and police observed a male and female inside the apartment through the damaged window. According to the woman, she and the complainant and a male at the apartment were all asleep when the suspect began pounding on the exterior bedroom window at about 4 a.m. The two women were awakened when the suspect began shouting at them while holding a beer bottle outside the window and he kicked the window in. They said they screamed for the male friend who was asleep on the living room couch and he confronted the suspect through the window and then exited the apartment and gave chase to the suspect who entered his vehicle parked in front of the apartment on E. 3rd St. He fled west on E. 3rd St. and turned south down Vine Avenue. One woman received several small, bleeding cuts to her face and left arm from the shattered glass. She did not require medical attention and was tending to the cuts. Police photographed the injuries and the damage. The suspect called the apartment twice while police were present and an investigation is pending with referral to the prosecutor's office. The suspect was not located.

Speak with officer

Police responded to the 600 block of Ohio Ave. where the complainant said the landlord let himself into his apartment without permission and he awoke to find him in the kitchen.

Ambulance needed

Police responded to the 400 block of E. School St. at 1:59 p.m. Thursday where the complainant advised her niece was walking downtown and hurt her foot or leg in a pot hole. First responders were there and an ambulance arrived.

Suspicious vehicle

Police responded to the 2300 block of Lexington Dr. at 2:46 p.m. Tuesday and located two people in a blue Cavalier who claimed they were working on a house there. Police checked and they were.

Shoplifting

Police responded to the 2800 block of E. State St. at 5:18 p.m. Wednesday and took April R. Barfield, 2295 Monroe St., Salem, into custody for theft after loss prevention personnel detained her for trying to leave the store with $89.50 in merchandise. She was released on recognizance bond.

Domestics

Police responded to the 900 block of E. 3rd St. at 5:46 p.m. Wednesday where there was a dispute between a male juvenile and her mother and her boyfriend over the juvenile leaving school early.

Police responded to the 800 block of E. 3rd St. at 11 p.m. Wednesday regarding a report of a domestic but were unable to locate anything.

Vehicle damaged

Police responded to the 500 block of E. 3rd St. at 8:01 p.m. Wednesday where the complainant advised he drove through an unnamed alley with a large hole and damaged the bumper on his vehicle.

Unruly juvenile

Police responded to the 400 block of E. 5th St. at 5p.m. Wednesday where a juvenile left and refused to return home. Police located the juvenile in the 300 block of N. Ellsworth Ave. and spoke to her about the consequences of her actions and she agreed to return home.

LISBON REPORTS

Thefts

Roger Brown, 53, of 306 S. Lincoln Ave., Lisbon, was charged with misdemeanor theft after village police were called to the Lisbon Dental Clinic for an alleged theft Thursday.

A police affidavit alleged Brown stole three sterilization pouches and one scissors pouch and had the items hidden in his socks.

A representative of C&R Auto Sales reported at 3 p.m. Wednesday that a man took a vehicle for a test ride and never came back.

He originally asked if he could take the vehicle to a buddy's house to place it on a lift to look at it and took the vehicle, then he returned and said he put $5 gas in it and checked the air in the tires since his buddy wasn't home.

He took the vehicle again and didn't return.

The business had no information on the man.
