Fred R. Jennings

Lisbon - Fred R. Jennings, 80, of state Route 517 died at 2:10 p.m. Monday at Salem Community Hospital.

Born Aug. 23, 1929 in New Concord, Ohio, he was the son of the late Raymond C. and Lucille (Yoho) Jennings.

Mr. Jennings grew up in New Concord and worked as a deputy sheriff in Guernsey County at one time. He drove truck for many years including driving for Greyhound Bus. He retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation where he was an equipment operator.

He was a veteran of the Marine Corps, Fred enjoyed his life and his family.

Survivors include his wife, the former Wanda J. Lewis, whom he married Dec. 28, 1959; two sons, Sam (Sherry) Jennings of Salem, and Scott (Tina) Jennings of Lisbon; six daughters: Teresa Kegelmyer of Leetonia, Kim (Dan) Reash of East Palestine, Betsy (Stan) Taylor of New Concord, Peggy (Roger) Blackburn of Washington Courthouse, Vickie (Don) Lyons, and Sandy (Dick) Snyder both of Cambridge; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Weber Funeral Home with the Rev. Herbert DeLong officiating. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
