Kevin and Carol Smith of Steubenville are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Carrie Nicole Smith, to William Daniel Paynter. He is the son of Robin Paynter and William Ronald Paynter of Salem.

The bride-to-be is a 1999 graduate of Edison High School and a 2003 graduate of Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in human development and family studies. She is employed at a staffing agency in Charlotte, N.C.

Her fiance is a 1997 graduate of Salem High School and a 2004 graduate of Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in computer information systems. He is employed as a territory manager for Star Pipe Products.

A May 29, 2010, wedding is planned at St. Mark Catholic Church in Huntersville, N.C.
