Weingart Cousins observe birthdays, anniversaries

ALLIANCE-The Weingart Cousins met recently with 22 present. Birthdays and anniversaries were observed. The next breakfast begins at 9 a.m. Nov. 10 at Perkins Restaurant and Bakery.

United Little Eagles to host Halloween dance Oct. 31

HANOVERTON-United Little Eagles' annual Halloween dance for adults is scheduled from 8 p.m. to midnight Oct. 31 at the Salem Little Quakers Bingo Hall, 1688 S. Lincoln Ave. Admission is $10 per person (BYOB). There will be food, a 50/50, costume contest, and cash prizes. Music will be provided by DJ Don Hofmeister.

Ruritans plan

Halloween party

GUILFORD LAKE-The Guilford Lake Ruritan Club is sponsoring a Halloween party from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Guilford Lake Ruritan Hall on Route172 at Hanna Drive. Prizes will be awarded in funniest, scariest, cutest, or most original costumes. There will be games, face painting, a light lunch with snacks, doughnuts, cider and punch. R-Weigh records loss of 42 pounds

in the past week

SALEM-The R-Weigh weight reducing support groups met Monday at the Faith Chapel and recorded a loss of 42 pounds for the week. Good losers of the week were Carole Shafer, Barb Smith, Carol Santee and Marge Kireta. The drawn goalies of the week were Janel Anderson and Karen Pauline. Jesse Rea reached her one-fourth way to goal weight, Sue Smith received the birthday award and Rachel Weaver won the can-do award.

Lou McAngus announced at the 1 p.m. meeting that her junior class beat the senior class for the second week and won the monetary award. Diane Hart announced at the 5 p.m. meeting that her sophomores beat the three other classes and won the monetary award. Sue Kinirons presided at the afternoon meeting and Karen Pauline at the evening meeting. Carol Held presented a program on why, where and when you should eat snacks in your daily menu. The school contest continues for two more weeks and the members will share the school fund on Oct. 26.

fashion show

at Tippecanoe CC

CANFIELD-The Youngstown Symphony Guild is hosting its sixth annual "On the Town" Fashion Flair. This event, featuring clothing by Possessions and cosmetics from Arbonne International, will be held on Oct. 28 at Tippecanoe Country Club, 5870 Tippecanoe Road. This social event begins at 10:30 a.m. with lunch served at 11:30 a.m. The fashion show follows. There will be complimentary punch, silent auction items with valet parking available. presents awards at October meeting

SALEM-TOPS Chapter 1380 met at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church for its Oct. 12 meeting. Weekly awards were presented to Eleanore May, TOPS, Margaret Phillips, KOPS, and Jeannie Luxeuil, honorable mention. A craft auction was held at the Oct. 19 meeting. The Rolling Cash 5 was won by Cindy Eastman. Shirley Bullis read for the "circle of light" ceremony.

EPO garden club plans Christmas home tour

EAST PALESTINE-The East Palestine Town and Country Garden Club will be having the Christmas Home Tour from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 13 and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 14. The theme is "An Old Fashioned Country Christmas." Tickets are $10 and available at each home, DND'S Restaurant, Flowers Straight from the Heart, The Sunflower Seed, Endia's Photography and George's Hair Styling, with maps on the back. Lunch will be available at the Unity Grange from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (both days) and crafts are back at Heid Hall Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Also, Joanne McDevitt will have crafts at Unity Grange. A live nativity scene is planned at the First Presbyterian Church on Friday evening.

There will be five decorated homes: The Herriott Residence "A Taste of a Country Christmas," The Huff Residence, "Racing into Christmas," The Dunlap Residence "A Victorian Christmas," The Fruit Residence, "Primitive Treasures Borrowed from Nature," The Patrone Residence, "Ye Old Time Christmas." George's Hair Styling Salon will be included with the homes. Also featured is the East Palestine Memorial Public Library where punch and cookies will be served in the community Room by Friends of the Library from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Scrapbooking event to be held at Heck's Restaurant

COLUMBIANA-An all-day scrapbooking crop will be held from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Nov. 7 at Heck's Restaurant. There will be prizes and "make and take" projects to participate in. Lunch and dinner will be catered by Heck's Restaurant. Cost is $35. Reservations may be made by calling Leah Nicoara, a Close to My Heart independent consultant, at 330-337-0020.

St. Paul School

to host all-class

reunion Nov. 9

SALEM-The St. Paul School all-class reunion will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 9 at Scullion Hall at St. Paul School, 925 E. State St. All St. Paul School alumni, staff, and friends are invited to support this event which recognizes over 100 years of educating students in the Salem area.
