Breakfast planned
LISBON-The Lisbon Ruritan Club is sponsoring an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at McKinley Elementary School. In addition to pancakes and sausage, the meal also includes biscuits and sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, coffee, orange juice and milk. Tickets are $ 6 per person and $3 for under 12. Columbiana Seniors
COLUMBIANA-Columbiana Senior Citizens will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Upper Room. Those attending are to bring a sack lunch.
Saxon fish fry
SALEM-The Salem Saxon Club will host a fish fry from 5 to 7:15 p.m. Oct. 30 at 1980 Newgarden Road. Dinners include a choice of baked or fried ocean cod, or breaded pork chops, scalloped potatoes, green beans, cole slaw or applesauce, homemade cake, coffee or punch. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children. Carryouts are available by calling 330-222-1770.
Family Fun Night
LISBON-Stage Left Players will host a Family Fun Night at 7 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Trinity Playhouse. Admission is $5 per person and includes a movie and a snack of "Tea with Bread and Jam." This 1965 film, starring Julie Andrews, is the number one all-time favorite musical and is celebrating its 50th year anniversary, having made its Broadway premier in 1959 and has been performed on local theater stages around the country since then. The film will be the "Sing Along" version and the public is invited to come dressed as their favorite character from the movie/play. Blood drive set
SALEM-Salem Community Hospital is teaming up with the American Red Cross to sponsor a blood drive from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 4 in the hospital's second floor classrooms. New donors are always welcome, and regular donors who have not given since Sept. 5 are eligible. To schedule an appointment call 330-332-7227.
Christmas in Country
BELOIT-West Branch Middle School's sixth annual "Christmas in the Country" craft show will be held from 10 a.m. 4 p.m. Nov. 7. Crafts, live entertainment, bake sale, Chinese auction, 50/50 raffle and much more will be offered. Hot lunches will be available. Those who bring in a new toy for the toy drive to help needy families in the community and surrounding communities will receive free Chinese auction tickets. Kraut Fest Nov. 7-8
CANFIELD-The Haus 10th annual Kraut Fest will be held from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 7, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 8 at Haus Cider Mill, 6742 W. Calla Road. Entertainment will be provided by Al-Ray Combo and Stone Ridge Band on Saturday and the Del Sinchak and Band on Sunday. The event offers ethnic food, a magic show, "shred-a-head" contest, cabbage bowl, Raggs the Clown, etc. Admission is $4 for adults and $7 per couple. Children are admitted free of charge. Lifeguard Training
SALEM-The Salem Community Center is offering an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course from Nov. 9-20. After completion of the two-week course, participants will be certified in Lifeguard Training, First Aid, Professional Rescuer Adult Child and Infant CPR, and AED Essentials. Classes are held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and limited to 10 students. Prerequisite information can be found at www.salemcommunitycenter.com. United bus trip
HANOVERTON-The United Community Education Department is sponsoring a bus trip to the Prime Outlet Mall in Grove City, Pa. on Nov. 21. The bus will leave the high school at 7:45 a.m. and return at 4:30 p.m. Cost is $8 person. Payment is due at the time of registration. Holiday movie event
SEBRING-The Sebring Historical Society will present its annual fund-raising holiday movie event, "The Bishop's Wife," starring Cary Grant, Loretta Young and David Niven at the Strand Theatre Museum on 15th Street. Dance set at Memorial Building
SALEM - The Memorial Building will host its 25th annual Halloween dance for adults and senior citizens on Friday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. It is free and open to the public and co-sponsored by the Salem Senior Citizens and the Salem Memorial Building Association. Door prizes will be awarded to all those dressed in costumes. Refreshments will be available and there will be raffles and a "cake walk" with music. Call 330-332-5512 for information.
