Donald P. Vernon
SEBRING - Donald P. Vernon, 78, of Mechanicstown died at his home at 4:10 p.m. Friday.
Mr Vernon was born in East Millsboro, PA on Sept. 5, 1931, the son of the late George R. Vernon and Esther M. (Porter) Vernon.
He a driver for Vernon Transportation and was a lifetime member of the Sebring VFW Post 6730. Mr. Vernon was a US Marine Corps Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife Faye (Jenkins) Vernon, whom he married on May 10, 1954; two daughters, Sherry Vernon of Alliance, and Donna (Paul) Saur of Mechanicstown; a son, Clay (Shirley) Vernon of Beloit, a grandson, a granddaughter, three step-grandchildren, five step great-grandchildren, and a sister, Ann McDaniel of Beloit.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Bryan P. Vernon, on Feb. 14, 2003; and Tom E. Vernon, on Sept. 17, 2005.
Services will be held on at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with Rev. Jeffrey Davis officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park.
