LISBON-The David Anderson High School Classes of 1946 and 1947 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Taste of Country.
H1N1 meeting
SALEM-A program titled "H1N1 Preparedness and Response (Flu)" will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Thursday during the Salem Area Amateur Radio Association's meeting at the Salvation Army, 1249 N. Ellsworth Ave. This program will be presented by Bob Zehentbauer, public health emergency preparedness coordinator for the Columbiana County Health Department. Members of the community are invited to attend. Questions and discussion about response roles will follow.
Retail meeting
SALEM-The Salem Retail and Business Association will meet a 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce conference room. All businesses are invited and encouraged to attend.
Banquet in Salem
SALEM- The Banquet in Salem will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building. The Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, a founding sponsor, will serve meat loaf, cheesy potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, fruit, veggies and ice cream sundaes.
Additional sponsors are needed for both the Monday and fourth Thursday meals. Financial gifts are also needed for the meals where there is no scheduled sponsor. Monetary gifts may be sent to The Banquet in Salem, P.O. Box 792, Salem. For information call 330-337-3125.
Fairfield 1959
NEW WATERFORD-The Fairfield-New Waterford High School Class of 1959 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 5 at the Skyline Diner in Salem.
Leetonia 1949
LEETONIA-The Leetonia High School Class of 1949 will meet for lunch at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at Taste of Country.
Blood drive
COLUMBIANA-Salem Community Hospital and Crestview High School will sponsor an American Red Cross blood drive on Thursday in the high school gymnasium, 44100 Crestview Road. Appointments will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and may be made by calling the school at 330-482-4744.
Donors with all blood types are needed, and first-time donors are always welcome. Regular donors who have not given since Aug. 13 are eligible. Generally, donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health the day of donation. A complete list of donor guidelines is available on the American Red Cross's website, www.redcross.org. As a special incentive, all donors will be entered into a prize drawing. Apprentice program
VIENNA TOWNSHIP-The Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana Counties Cement Masons and Plasterers Joint Apprenticeship Program will accept applications for a class of cement masons. The dates are: 9 to 11 a.m. and 1:30 to 3 p.m. Nov. 9-13. Applications will be accepted at the Joint Apprenticeship Committee Office, located in the offices of the Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania on Route 193, one mile north of Tibbets Wick Road. Golf contest
CINCINNATI-On Sept. 15, three members of the Columbiana County Special Olympics Golf team and their unified partners participated in the State Golf Tournament at the Meadow Links and Golf Academy in Cincinnati. In Division seven, two teams were entered. The team of Joe Moyer (athlete) and his partner Carl Wollet took first place with a nine hole score of 55. Also, Jeremy Carr (athlete) and his partner Bobby Carr took fourth place with a score of 72. In division eight, Tom Baun (athlete) and his partner Jim Jackson, took another first place trophy with a score of 51.
Columbiana County Special Olympics is a volunteer non-profit organization that provides sports opportunities for the developmentally disabled athletes in bowling, power lifting, basketball, swimming, golf, track and softball.
Apple-Pumpkin Fest
