Criminal mischief
Someone from the Damascus Elementary School reported at 7:34 a.m. July 21 that a semi truck had damaged the property.
A man reported at 8:41 a.m. July 21 that someone had spraypainted a picnic table and several walls at the Beloit Ruritan Park on Fairview Avenue.
A man reported at 9:32 a.m. July 21 that someone had spraypainted several picnic tables and the dugout at the Beloit Park on Fifth Street.
Driving under suspension
Krista E. Little, 28, of Lowellville, was arrested at 9:15 a.m. July 21 for driving under suspension following a traffic stop for speed.
William D. Triplett Sr., 49, of 41 Boxwood Drive, Beloit, was arrested at 1:46 a.m. July 22 for driving under suspension following a traffic stop for no front license plate.
Frank J. Albert II, 23, of Warren, was arrested at 3:18 a.m. July 24 for driving under suspension following a traffic stop for speed.
Criminal damaging
A man from the 14000 block of Seacrist Road reported at 12:06 p.m. July 24 that someone damaged his mailbox during the early morning hours.
Warrant arrest
Charles R. Baird Jr., 37, of 1870 Grandview Road, Lake Milton, was arrested at 2:54 p.m. July 24 on an active warrant out of the department for tampering with evidence.
Leighland D. Johnson, of Youngstown, was arrested at 2 a.m. July 25 on an active warrant out of the Mercer County (Pa.) Police Department following a traffic stop in which he was a passenger.
Joseph A. Mayerchak, of Mercer, Pa., was arrested at 12:21 a.m. July 26 on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office following a traffic stop for two headlights required.
Driving under suspension
Andrew L. Cunningham, 31, of 33025 Votaw Drive, Lisbon, was arrested at 10:44 a.m. July 25 for driving under suspension following a traffic stop for traveling left of center. Passenger Alicia J. Cunningham, 31, of the same address, who owned the vehicle, was also arrested for wrongful entrustment.
Underage consumption
Corey P. Myers, 18, of 4720 Whinnery Road, Salem, was arrested at 2:25 a.m. July 26 for underage consumption following a traffic stop in which he was a passenger.
Cory A. Miller, 19, of 763 N. Lincoln Ave., Salem, was arrested at 2:40 a.m. July 26 for underage consumption following a traffic stop in which he was a passenger.
Driving under suspension
Brittany A. Smith, 24, of 10136 W. Middletown Road, Salem, was arrested at 6:32 p.m. July 26 for driving under OVI suspension following a traffic stop for no front license plate.
Criminal damaging
A woman from the 12000 block of Kent Road reported at 7:22 a.m. July 28 that someone damaged her mailbox overnight.
A woman from the 15000 block of Garfield Road reported at 5:20 p.m. July 28 that someone damaged her mailbox overnight.
Identity theft
A man from the 12000 block of Goshen Road reported at 11:22 a.m. July 30 that someone attempted to use his credit card, but no transaction occurred.
A woman from the 15000 block of Garfield Road reported at 11:55 a.m. July 30 that she received an account statement for a department store credit card issued out of Connecticut which she did not own.
Theft
A man from the 5000 block of Western Reserve Road reported at 3:30 p.m. July 30 that someone stole a Boy Scouts' canoe overnight.
A man from the 16000 block of state Route 165 reported at 11:04 a.m. July 31 that someone stole a .44 caliber revolver from his bedroom.
A woman from the 12000 of Goshen Road reported at 5:20 p.m. Saturday that someone stole a cement decorative goose from her lawn overnight.
Warrant arrest
Kenneth L. Harper, of 133 S. Morgan Ave., Alliance, was arrested at 11:31 p.m. July 31 on an active warrant out of the Alliance Police Department following a traffic stop in which he was a passenger. Another passenger, Dewayne W. Jones, of 143 1/2 S. Haimes Ave., Alliance, was also arrested on an active warrant out of the Alliance Police Department.
Steven N. Huth, of Canton, was arrested at 2:27 a.m. Saturday on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office following a traffic stop in which he was a passenger.
Assault
A woman reported at 1:56 a.m. Sunday that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend's parents while at Ponderosa Park. All individuals involved offered conflicting stories. The statements were gathered and submitted to the Mahoning County Prosecutor's Office.
Criminal damaging
A woman from the 13000 block of state Route 534 reported at 3:12 a.m. Sunday that someone had damaged her car with a golf club.
COLUMBIANA
Breaking and entering
A caller from D'Lux Motors reported at 9:23 a.m. Monday that someone had broken into the business over the weekend.
Vandalism
A North Elm Street woman reported at 7:11 p.m. Monday that someone cut the phone lines to her house overnight.
Driving under suspension
Robert Price Jr, 27, of 408 Fair Ave., Salem, was cited at 12:41 a.m. Tuesday for driving under suspension.
Warrant arrest
Christopher J. Black, 37, of 39396 Brown St., Lisbon, was arrested at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday on an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office
Lisbon
Cash lost
A woman reported Wednesday her father lost an envelope containing a large sum of money somewhere in Lisbon, possibly at Smith Oil. The envelope also contained his driver's license.
Blocked drive
A Lee Avenue woman reported at 7:44 p.m. Wednesday there were vehicles blocking her driveway.
Business break-in
L & G Mower Service, East Washington Street, was broken into at 11:53 p.m. Wednesday, with the surveillance camera showing the burglar taking the gumball machine from inside. A witness who saw the suspect running away with the gumball machine was the first to alert police. The suspect is a male in his 30s, wearing a tan T-shirt, blue jean shorts, and black and white tennis shoes.
Perry Township
Suspicious person
Police on patrol on Egypt Road and E. Pine Lake Road at 10:21 p.m. Tuesday located a vehicle parked on the roadway and questioned a male and female juvenile who advised they were waiting for a friend to return. Police located another male and female exiting from the closed roadway. All were identified and warned for trespassing on private property. Police asked if there was any contraband or illegal items inside the vehicle and searched the vehicle after obtaining permission. Police located tobacco products in plain view and confiscated them since no one inside the vehicle was over 18. One of the people was 15 and warned for a curfew violation and they were sent home.
Salem
Theft
Police received a report on station at 8:59 p.m. Wednesday from a male saying that his bike was stolen and provided a description and information. The bike was stolen from a residence on Columbia St.
Protection order
Police received a report at 7:33 p.m. Wednesday from a female resident in the 600 block of E. 3rd St. advising someone she has a protection order against drove past her residence three times and beeped at her. Information was gathered and the matter will be forwarded to the prosecutor's office.
Assist F.D.
Police responded to the 800 block of E. 4th St. at 7:20 p.m. for an open burning report at the request of the fire department and found the homeowner set a couch on fire behind the residence. Troy Hightland, 850 E. 4th St., was charged with open burning and released on his own recognizance.
Alarm
Police responded to the 800 block of Superior Ave. at 7:20 p.m. for an intrusion alarm and checked the exterior when they heard someone inside calling for help. Police found the homeowner on the floor and she had fallen and could not call for help due to an injury. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Speak with officer
Police received a report from a resident in the 1700 block of E. State St. at 6:43 p.m. Wednesday and the complainant said she was approached by a male in a red Jeep Cherokee who stopped and initiated a conversation. He said he was a photographer and wanted to take pictures of her and her infant. She said she didn't have money for photos and he said arrangements could be made and suggested they go to Centennial Park to take the photos. The complainant advised that she was wary of the request and state she was not interested and the male said OK and left the area. The only description was a male wearing sunglasses. The complainant then came to the police department to make a report.
Neighbor dispute
Police responded to a dispute in the 1000 block of Cleveland St. at 5:17 p.m. Wednesday and the complainant believed her neighbor took her daughter's soccer ball that she accidentally let get into the neighbor's yard. The daughter went inside to tell her mother what happened but when they came outside to retrieve the ball it was gone. Police spoke with the neighbor and he had the ball but was unwilling to tun it over until police explained he could be charged with theft. He turned the ball over to police and said to keep the ball out of his yard and the ball was returned to its owner.
Assault
Police responded to the 1900 block of E. State St. at 2:22 a.m. Thursday after hospital staff advised a female had been assaulted while at an establishment in the 500 block of S. Broadway Ave. Police spoke to the victim who had a laceration on her upper lip just under her nose and had just received five stitches. She said she was assaulted by an unknown person while leaving the establishment and she signed a medical release and police took digital photos. Police went to the establishment and spoke to an employee who provided the name of a possible suspect in the assault. The employee said the suspect was a band member that played at their establishment and was the boyfriend of the victim. Police spoke with two family members of the victim who provided statements regarding the incident but did not witness it. They were going by what the victim told them. The incident is under investigation.
Domestic
Police responded to the 400 block of E. 3rd St. at 1:17 a.m. Thursday for a report of a domestic dispute and the female was highly upset because her husband made contact with his ex-wife and she heard about it from a third party. Both denied any physical violence took place and they were advised to cease their action and talk the matter over when they could be calm about it.
Warrant
Police executed an outstanding warrant from the Columbiana County Sheriff on Jill E. Liston, 884 Homewood Ave., who was taken into custody without incident and transported to the county jail.
Man wants ambulance, gets jail
Police responded to the 600 block of E. 3rd St. at 9:16 a.m. Thursday after receiving a call from Clyde B. Coleman, 623 E. 3rd St.who requested an ambulance "for a ride to Youngstown." He stated he was sick and the dispatcher put him on the line with Ambulance and he said he wanted to go to St. E's in Youngstown. He also stated that he "had a Glock 9mm and I'm about to use it!" Police were dispatched to the scene along with EMT and first responders. Police found the apartment front door locked and when they rang the door bell Coleman shouted at them to quit ringing the bell, using profane language. A neighbor allowed two officers into the apartment and Coleman was staggering down the steps at that point. He was very intoxicated and he was checked for weapons and was arrested for disorderly conduct and making false alarms. He was taken to the county jail. Police had responded to his residence at 7:51 a.m. when he advised his savings passbook was taken on Aug. 5.
Solicitors
Police received a report at 11:02 a.m. Thursday of a juvenile soliciting money for the Salem High School football team. He was not affiliated with the school and it is not currently involved with fund raising. The boy was allegedly on a bike and going door-to-door with a coffee can asking for money in the neighborhood of W. Wilson St. and Sharp Avenue. Police were unable to locate the boy.
