Lisbon

Fair parking

A North Market Street man called Monday to complain people going to the county fair were parking on his property and he wanted it stopped. The officer learned the people had permission to park there from another family member.

Poor conditions in house

Police contacted Children Services on Monday after being called to a filthy house on West Washington Street where 10 family members - three adults and seven children - were living in squalid conditions. Chief Buck Higgins was allowed inside the home by the mother after noticing a large amount of trash and garbage on the porch and yard as well as a bad odor coming from inside. Every room was found to contain trash, only some of which was in bags, along with 20 to 40 empty pop cans laying on the floor. The kitchen was filthy, with dirty dishes everywhere, as was the bathroom. Dirty clothes were also strewn about. There were four bedrooms but only three beds and no cribs or beds for young children. Higgins told them this was unacceptable and that he was calling Children Services. He also told the adults they need to start cleaning up the residence to make it fit for the children.

Man collapses

An ambulance was summoned to the Night Court at 8:19 p.m. Monday after a man collapsed.

Reckless driver

A caller said a motorist in a blue Camaro was driving recklessly back and forth in front of the Night Court at 9:44 p.m. Monday. The officers found tire marks on the street indicating the driver was doing "burnouts" and that the vehicle had also struck a sign on the south side of Washington Street. Other witnesses said it was a green pickup truck, early 1970s model.

Dog pestered

A West Washington Street woman reported at 11 p.m. Monday someone was throwing "stuff" at her dog, which was tied up outside. She found nuts all around her dog and was afraid her pet might choke on them.

Fairgrounds too noisy

A woman who lives near the county fairgrounds called at 12:41 a.m. Tuesday to complain about the noise, saying she thought the fair closed at 8 p.m. every day. She was advised the fair closes around 11 p.m. She also complained the loud speakers are too loud. The officer arrived to find the antique tractor pulls were still going on and the announcer was still announcing. The officer asked fair officials to turn down the public address system, which was done. The tractor pulls continued until 2 a.m.

Window smashed

A rock was thrown through a window at Wright Buffing, South Market Street. This was discovered at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Failure to control

Edward L. Brown Jr., 18, Lisbon Road, Lisbon, was cited for failure to control after he went off the road and struck a sign at the intersection of state Routes 164 and 517 at 7:10 a.m. Tuesday. Brown said his brakes failed, causing the accident.

Trucker needs help

An officer was called to the intersection of Washington Street and Lincoln Avenue at 10 a.m. Wednesday to help a trucker with oversized load trying to make a turn.

Mirror clipped

A man reported that while driving on Maple Street at 10:21 a.m. Wednesday the side mirror on a passing truck clipped the side mirror on his truck. He pulled over but the other driver kept going.

Salem

Possible shots fired

Police responded to the area of Jennings Ave. and W. 7th St. at 4:36 a.m. Tuesday after a resident reported hearing three gunshots. When police arrived the were met by four males who approached the cruiser. All four reported hearing gunshots on Jennings Ave. near W. 7th St. and an additional three or four shots east of Jennings Ave. closer to N. Ellsworth Ave. The responding officer advised dispatch and other officers of the witness reports and officers began searching the area for the suspect. There was no one in the area other than other witnesses that heard what they reported as gunshots. Officers did collect evidence from the area and secured it from the scene.

Domestic

Police responded to the 900 block of W. Wilson St. at 7:56 p.m. Monday where it was determined there was no physical violence to either party during a verbal dispute. Police advised both to separate for the evening.

Neighbor dispute

Police responded to the 700 block of W. State St. at 7:55 p.m. Monday where the complainant advised unwanted trash was being placed on her property by unknown people at a nearby address. Police spoke with the resident and spoke with the person there advising of several options to correct the problem. The person was also advised to secure or remove the doors to an unused refrigerator on her back porch and gave her 48 hours to correct the problem.

Theft

Police responded to the 100 block of Ohio Ave. at 6:55 p.m. Monday where the complainant advised that sometime overnight three hanging baskets were stolen from the side of her house, valued at $20.

Assist other agency

Police responded to the 600 block of E. 3rd St. at 6:05 p.m. Monday where an ambulance crew could not get an answer at the door. After several minutes a highly intoxicated male opened the door and wanted to go to the hospital and was transported there.

Well being check

Police responded to the 500 block of N. Ellsworth Ave. at 5:57 p.m. Monday to check on the welfare of an elderly female and she was taken to the hospital when an ambulance crew arrived.

Suspicious vehicle

Police responded to the 1200 block of S. E. Blvd. at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday in reference to a suspicious person and were unable to locate anyone in the area.

Criminal mischief

Police responded to the 400 block of E. 5th St. at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in reference to a report of criminal mischief and the complainant advised a male wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans was knocking trash cans over. Police located a subject matching the description walking in the 300 block of W. 7th St. and he was subsequently charged with underage consumption. Jeffrey A. Culp, 348 W. 7th St., was transported to the county jail.

Intoxicated driver

Police responded to S. Lincoln Ave. at 2:19 p.m. Monday for an intoxicated driver report and the dispatch advised the vehicle was on Continental Drive and pulled into the Essex building lot #1. Contact was made with a female driver who had her three young children with her. The operator was advised of the complaint by a witness of erratic driving and she denied such charges. She did have watery/glassy eyes and her balance was unsure. She was advised to contact a person for a ride and she contacted her mother who advised she was on her way to pick up the operator and the children. The keys for the vehicle were brought to the police department and the driver and the children were taken inside Essex by the director until the mother arrived.

Threats

Police responded to the 1000 block of Cleveland St. at 3:32 p.m. Monday where the complainant advised she was threatened by her daughter over personal belongings. She went on to say her daughter had property belonging to her and she had property belonging to her daughter. The daughter showed up demanding her belongings and money but the complainant refused both and the daughter became upset. The daughter allegedly said, "If you don't let me get my things you'll just see what happens." The complainant also expressed concern for her grandchildren. While speaking to the complainant, the daughter returned to the residence and they began to argue and at that point to officers responded to the residence and located the daughter and the complainant asked that she be removed because she didn't live there. The daughter left and spoke to police outside and it was learned the argument was about each having property that belonged to the other. They exchanged some property, more information was gathered and the daughter left.

Domestic

Police responded to the 400 block of Columbia At. at 12:46 p.m. Wednesday for an argument between a male and female over personal matters. The male was upstairs and had punched a wall resulting in visible lacerations to his hand but he refused treatment and the female refused to press charges.

Shoplifting

Police responded to the 2800 block of E. State St. at 2:23 p.m. Wednesday where a 14-year-old male was held for shoplifting $52.64 in merchandise. His mother was in the store and the juvenile will be referred to the juvenile officer and was released to his mother.

Theft

Police responded to Centennial Park at 3:18 p.m. Wednesday where a complainant advised that a newly-installed drug awareness sign was stolen overnight.

Assist dog warden

Police responded to the 200 block of W. 4th St. at 2:49 p.m. Tuesday and stood by while a deputy dog warden issued a citation to the resident.

Domestic

Police responded to the 900 block of W. Wilson St. at 10:26 p.m. Tuesday and found a husband and wife in a dispute regarding their pending divorce. Police didn't observe any physical marks of violence and neither side wished to leave and domestic violence laws were explained to them.

Speak with police

At 7:40 p.m. Tuesday a complainant was on station to turn in drug paraphernalia and information was gathered and passed on to the Columbiana County Drug Task Force.

Intoxicated person

Police responded to the 100 block of W. 4th St. at7:33 p.m. regarding a report of an intoxicated person in the road and located the person in the curblawn. He was highly intoxicated and after numerous attempts he was identified as Johnny A. Holenchick, 39511 Grant St., Lisbon. As officers attempted to acquire information he began yelling obscenities and was advised several times to stop but continued and was arrested, handcuffed and charged with disorderly conduct persisting and taken to the county jail.

Domestic

Police responded to the 700 block of W. Wilson St. at 7:23 p.m. Tuesday where the male had already left and the the female said they were to meet at a neutral location and talk about dividing property. He began to argue about other things so she left and went to a relative and he followed and began arguing again and she called police. She wanted it documented and the male was stopped by police while enroute to the incident and said she did all the arguing and he was advised not to return to the residence.

Theft

Police responded to the 500 block of Aetna St. at 6;13 p.m. Tuesday and the complainant advised her daughter's bike was stolen from the back yard and she had last seen it on Aug. 3. The complainant gave a description and the shift lieutenant was familiar with a bike that was recovered on the previous shift and the complainant arrived at the police station and confirmed it was her daughter's bike.

Speak with officer

Police responded to the 2800 block of E. State St. at 5:04 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a follow up of a previous complaint and were given property that was reported stolen and two people were transported to the police station and admitted to the theft. They gave written statements and were released and the information will be forwarded to the the investigating officer.

Police met with the complainant at 1:53 a.m. in the 100 block of N. Ellsworth Ave. regarding a suspicious male that was a patron of the establishment earlier in the evening. Police provided the complainant suggestions and recommendations.

Assault

The Columbiana County sheriff received a call from a frantic female on Liberty St. at 1:37 a.m. She said she was walking on Liberty St. when several males exited a vehicle and assaulted her. The female did not leave a name or an exact location. Police checked the entire area of Liberty St. and there was no one even out walking the street at the time and dispatch received no other calls in reference to this incident.

Warrants

Police responded to the 400 block of W. 3rd St. at 9:57 a.m. Wednesday after being given a copy of a warrant by Perry Township police for a female. Police were accompanied by Sheriff Ray Stone and a deputy to the residence and Brittany S. Ritchie, 446 E. 3rd St., was taken into custody for assault and taken to the county jail.

Police responded to the 200 block of N. Ellsworth Ave. at 9:12 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a warrant for Michael E. Ingledue, 264 N. Ellsworth Ave., from the Columbiana County sheriff and he was turned over to a deputy.

Police took Josie L. Rastetter, 274 W. Wilson St., into custody on an outstanding warrant from the Columbiana County sheriff''s office at 10:37 a.m. Wednesday and she was released to a deputy.

Theft

Police responded to the 900 block of S. Lincoln Ave. at 11:43 a.m. Wednesday where the complainant advised his green trash dumpster with two wheels was stolen overnight.

PERRY?TOWNSHIP

Drive off

Police were advised of an elderly man driving off from the Circle K south at 11:56 a.m. Monday without paying for $27.47 in gas. The clerk was unable to provide any information other than the vehicle traveled west on the bypass.

Prowler

Police responded to the 700 block of Michigan Ave. at 2:12 a.m. where the complainant advised he observed tow people near his front yard but were unable to find anyone.

Unattended motor vehicle

Police responded to Indiana Ave. and W. State St. at 8:01 a.m. Tuesday where a vehicle was sitting at the intersection with no one around. It was towed due to being a hazard.

Shots fired

Police responded to the 800 block of Benton Road at 10:48 a.m. Tuesday in reference to gunshots being fired and were unable to locate the source.
