SALEM-The Salem Public Library board of trustees will meet in special session at 4 p.m. Thursday at the library.
Thursday Banquet
SALEM-The fourth Thursday of the month Banquet in Salem will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building. Friends of the Banquet will sponsor and serve the meal featuring roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, applesauce, vegetables, fruit and ice cream.
"Friends of the Banquet sponsor when a regular sponsor cannot be found for the meal," said Pastor Lou Raymond, chairman of sponsor recruitment. "This is a summer challenge for both Monday and fourth Thursday meals." Interested sponsors are asked to call 330-337-3125.
Spotlight Players
EAST PALESTINE-The East Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce has announced that the inaugural performance of the Spotlight Players of East Palestine will take place this weekend in the East Palestine City Park. The Spotlight Players will perform a Broadway Musical Review at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday. These performances are free and open to the public. Those attending should bring a blanket or chair. Additional performances will take place in the fall. SALEM-The Salem High School Class of 1946 plans to meet for breakfast at 8:30 a.m. July 28 at Adele's Place.
Chicken BBQ set
SALEM-The Salem First Friends Church on Jennings Avenue is hosting the annual Friends Disaster Service Chicken BBQ on Aug. 15 featuring live entertainment, games, pony rides and silent auction. Dinner will be served from 4 to 8 p.m. Cost is $9. A children's hot dog meal is $3. Advance tickets are recommended and may be purchased at the church office. For more information call 330-332-0001. The event will be held rain or shine.
Community yard sale
NORTH JACKSON-North Jackson Community Wide Yard Sale Days begins at 9 a.m. Aug. 7 and 8. The entire township will hold individual yard sales, 100 plus, which will be listed on maps to help shoppers locate each sale. The maps will be available the day of the sales at businesses and 11349 W. Mahoning Avenue. Restaurants will offer "Yard Sales Specials" and businesses will offer "Yard Sale Days Deals."
The Jackson Township Citizens Association is a not for profit group organized to assist with the planning, growth, development, and character of the North Jackson community. All funds are poured back into the community such as donations to the Veterans Memorial, supporting Memorial Day Parades and the Fourth of July celebrations, hosting Meet the Candidate Nights and supporting youth projects and school events.

SALEM-Alumni from Salem High School Class of 1984 are participating in a class reunion Web site at classreport.org/usa/oh/salem/shs/1984/. There are no registration fees required to join in the fun. Each class member has full participation privileges.
This class-based reunion website features dynamic changing content daily featuring class news, opinions, message board, alumni biography of the day, birthday greetings, reunion announcements, book and movie reviews, favorite recipes and featured links.
Class member Daniel Means has volunteered to serve as class administrator and is inviting all 1984 alumni to stop in and fill out a profile so they can be reached regarding the next reunion.
This class-based reunion website is hosted by Classreport.org with no advertising, no pop-ups, no spam, and no registrations fees. Artisan's Festival
LEETONIA- Food and craft vendor spaces are still available for the Leetonia Artisan's Festival Sept. 20 at Wick Park.
