Dustin Marshall Huffman

SALEM-Dustin Marshall Huffman, 17, of 2275 Edgewood Drive, Salem, died at 1:47 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, from injuries sustained in an accidental fall at Beaver Creek State Park.

Born Aug. 21, 1991, in Alliance Community Hospital, he was the son of David Huffman and Michelle (Clark) Huffman.

Dustin was a Senior at Salem High School, where he excelled in sports and was an outstanding track athlete. He starred in track, cross-country, and weight lifting, and excelled in anything he attempted. Dustin went to the State Championship with his track team where they won 1st place in the 800 meter relay, taking home a gold medal and attaining the status of "All Ohio Athlete."

Dustin lived by his Christian beliefs, attending various churches as well as attending school at Real Life Christian Academy, first through third grades.

He was of the highest integrity and character, always there to help anyone in need. He was very well loved and will be missed by all his many friends and staff at the Salem High School.

Dustin was employed by A-1 Tree Service. He also worked for Shoemaker Dairy Farm, and Davidson's Farm where he loved working with the animals. He did landscaping and repair work for close friends Dr. Betras in Canfield.

Survivors include his father, David Lee Huffman and mother, Michelle Clark Huffman; sister, Amanda McCarthy and fiance, Ed McNee; brothers, Casey Huffman and wife, Kala, and Michael Newell; grandparents, Charles and Alice Clark of Salem; aunt Patty and uncle Bob Baker, uncle Michael Clark, uncle Keith and aunt Debbie Leggett and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dustin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Helen Huffman and uncle Marshall Clark.

Calling hours were held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, 244 South Broadway Ave., Salem.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug George officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Dustin Huffman Memorial Track Scholarship Fund can be made at any Huntington Bank or sent to Patty Baker, 1573 Ridgewood Drive, Salem 44460.

Arrangements were handled by Stark Memorial.
