Damascus Historical Society tours Sebring museum
DAMASCUS-Prior to their summer recess, members of the Damascus Historical Society visited the Sebring Historical Museum. History of the museum was presented by Kenneth Zeppernick. Following the tour, members enjoyed lunch at Perkins Bakery and Restaurant. Historical society meetings will resume Sept. 15.
Conser family to hold
105th reunion
WINONA-The 105th Conser family reunion will be held on July 12 at the Winona Evangelical Friends Church at 4615 Whinnery Road. Dinner will be served at 1 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring photos to share. For information call Wendy Conser Doyle at 330-222-1082.
Rene Barlow to speak at Salem Aglow meeting
ALLIANCE- Rene Barlow will speak when Salem Aglow Lighthouse meets at 10 a.m. July 7 at Perkins Restaurant and Bakery. Barlow and her husband, George, are the parents of eight children, all 21 or older, five of which are special needs adoptions. They have also fostered 32 children over a period of 10 years. Through several of her husband's career moves, they have attended World Harvest Church in Columbus where she also attended Bible college. Throughout the years she has been involved in teaching Sunday school, Bible studies, planting a church and two trips to Belize. An optional lunch follows.
West Point Lions taking
orders for cookie dough
WEST POINT-West Point Lions Club President Betty Colian welcomed members to the June 15 meeting held at St. Agatha Hall. Veronica Wolski offered the invocation and benediction. Members will be participating in the Highway/By Way sale in August and also will again have the Lions Den at the fair, also in August.
The July 6 meeting begins at 7 p.m. at St. Agatha Hall. The board meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. July 8 at the Taste of Country Restaurant. Members and board members are welcome to attend the board meetings. Members will again be selling cookie dough which is available in various flavors for delivery on Nov. 17. Orders may be placed with any Lion member.

HANOVERTON-United Quilt Guild will meet at 7 p.m July 7 at United Elementary cafeteria.
East Palestine Order of the Eastern Star conducts election
EAST PALESTINE-East Palestine Chapter #381 Order of the Eastern Star held its June meeting with 17 members in attendance. The theme of the evening was "Mom's Apron/Daddy's Hands." Special guest for the evening were Grand Representative of Utah in Ohio, Mary McMillin. members made a financial donation to New Castle Crises Shelter. The Charter was draped in memory of Sister Ella Mae Whitmore and Sister Ruth Sansenbaugher. Both Sisters were 50 year plus members and held many offices. Elected for the 2010 year were Worthy Matron Edna Todd; Worthy Patron Gary Todd; Associate Matron Dannielle Laughlin; Associate Patron Shaun Laughlin; Secretary Mary McMillin; Treasurer Mary Bingham; Conductress Kathy Jo Laughlin; Associate Conductress Laura McMillin; trustee for three years, Ann Anderson. Open installation by invitation will be held on Nov. 21. Worthy Matron Laura McMillin honored members Ann Anderson and Judy McClune. The chapter will be taking orders and making sub sandwiches to sell for their Caring and Sharing project. Cost is $3 per sandwich. Orders must be turned in to Mary McMillin by July 3. Pick-up will be on July 8 at the East Palestine Masonic Building. The chapter will host an All Masonic Body Picnic at the East Palestine Community Building on July 23. Members will meet at 4:30 p.m. with supper at 6 p.m. Everyone is asked to bring a salad and/or a dessert to share. The meat, rolls and beverages will be provided. The next meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 3 when 25-year pins will be presented. Lunch was served by Sherrill Savors.

at R-Weigh meeting
SALEM-The R-Weigh weight reducing groups met Monday at the Faith Chapel and lost 67 pounds for the week. The good losers at the 1 p.m. meeting were Lou McAngus and Faith Hodnick. Patty Mills was the goalie of the week. The Diamond Dolls beat the Battin' Lashes 9 to 8, winning the baseball game. They have won two out of the three games played. Sue Kinirons presented the program on "Tips from The Biggest Loser" TV shows trainer Jillian Michaels. The good losers at the 5 p.m. meeting were Lois Wood, Ruth Hill, Peggy Kurtz, Andrea France, Shawna McCord and Sue Stanley. Janel Anderson was the goalie of the week, won the can-do award, and received the birthday award.
The Happy Hitters beat the Pink Powder Puffs 29 to 27, winning the baseball game. They have have won the two out of three games played. New members are welcome. For more information call 330-332-1078.
