Scholarship applications still accepted

SALEM-The Salem Community Foundation would like to remind those wishing to apply for the Ministerial Scholarship that the application and guidelines are available on the Salem Community Foundation's website located at www.salemcommunityfoundation.org and also by calling the foundation office weekday mornings at 330-332-4021.

All applications must be received by Salem Community Foundation by June 26 for scholarships to be reviewed. Only completed applications will be considered by the scholarship committee of the Salem Community Foundation.

Salem Community Foundation's Ministerial Scholarship is valid at Bible colleges, undergraduate and graduate schools. Applicants must submit indication of financial need, academic performance, reference letters, and a personal statement. The Ministerial Scholarship does not discriminate on the basis of religious denomination, age, sex, gender, or geography.

The fund will provide scholarship aid to assist persons who will spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This scholarship is extended to those individuals who wish to enter the fields of the ministry, Christian education, youth ministry, or a closely related field.

Comm. Foundation scholarships available

SALEM-Current college students interested in applying for Salem Community Foundation scholarships are reminded they can pick up applications now at the Salem Community Center or Salem Public Library. The application may also be downloaded via the scholarship link on the Foundation's website, www.salemcommunityfoundation.org.

Consideration will be given to students on the basis of class level (senior, junior and sophomore) and financial need. The scholarship committee will determine scholarship amounts under the guidelines established by the Salem Community Foundation. Scholarships will be awarded for the fall 2009 term.

Applicants must have a 2.5 cumulative grade point average, a minimum class load of six semester hours, and be a resident of Salem City or Perry Township. All applications must be received in the Salem Community Foundation's office by June 26 to be considered for an award.

WB schedules new student registration

BELOIT-West Branch will be registering new students for the upcoming 2009-10 school year from July 20-31. All registrations will be done in the superintendent's office located at the high school from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On July 22, there will be a late registration through 6 p.m. Registration packets are available now at the high school office. Registration requirements include birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization records, proof of residency and custody papers, if applicable. Boyd graduates with honors from OSU

COLUMBUS-Donald Boyd, son of Scott and Debbie Boyd of Leetonia, graduated cum laude with a degree in political science and a minor in public policy from The Ohio State University on June 14.

While attending OSU, Boyd was a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha National Honor Society for Political Science and Phi Delta Theta social fraternity where he served as philanthropist chair and vice president.

He is a 2005 graduate of Leetonia High School and plans to attend Capital University Law School in the fall.

Sees on dean's list at Brevard College

BREVARD, N.C.-Brevard College has announced its dean's list for the spring semester of the 2008-09 academic year. Named to the list is Monica Sees of Canfield.

Baker graduates with honors from Walsh

NORTH CANTON-Tricia Baker graduated cum laude from Walsh University on April 26 with a bachelor's of science degree in biology and a minor in psychology.

She will be continuing her education in the fall at the university to pursue a doctorate of physical therapy. Baker is the daughter of Charles and Sharon Baker of Salem.

Local students earn Malone Univ. degrees

CANTON-Malone University recently held commencement services for its 117th graduating class. Among the graduates are the following area students:
