Carroll Lee Hieronimus

HOMEWORTH-Carroll Lee Hieronimus, 72, of 26596 Georgetown Road, Homeworth, went to be with the Lord at 2:31 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at the Salem Community Hospital.

He was born October 29, 1936, in Green County, Pa., the son of the late Harold Lee Hieronimus and the late Alice M. (Gorby) Hieronimus Kensinger.

Before his retirement in 1998, Mr. Hieronimus had been employed as an electrician at the Electric Furnace Company for over 30 years.

Carroll attended the Damascus Friends Church. He liked hunting, woodworking, and volunteering for mission work at the church. He was also an avid Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed traveling with and spending time with his friends.

He enjoyed his grandchildren and loved to watch them play sports.

His wife, Patricia R. "Patty" (Starbuck) Hieronimus, whom he married September 8, 1957, survives him; along with a daughter, Sherry Deckerd of Beloit; Steve Deckerd of Damascus; daughter-in-law, Julie Hieronimus, Bluffton, Ohio; two sisters, Marjorie Hartman of North Georgetown and Janice (Richard) Hetrick of Columbiana; a stepsister, Ardythe (George) Ralph of Logan, Ohio; a stepbrother, Dan (Louise) Kensinger of Mechanicstown, Ohio; and six grandchildren, Greg (Annie) Deckerd, Scott Deckerd, Jeff Deckerd, Andrew Hieronimus, Katie Hieronimus and Jennifer Hieronimus.

Preceding him in death were a son, Mike Hieronimus on September 15, 2005; a sister, Sandra Blessing on October 23, 1993; and his stepfather, Adam B. Kensinger on April 12, 1990.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Damascus Friends Church with Pastor John Ryser officiating.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home and on Friday at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park.
