SALEM-One of the nation's top McDonald's restaurant managers, Salem resident Joanne Morrison, was recently notified that she will receive the Ray Kroc Award, an annual performance based award that recognizes the top 1 percent performing McDonald's restaurant managers in country.

Named after McDonald's corporate founder Ray Kroc, the award was established in 1999 to honor hard-working restaurant managers.

Only four managers from Ohio were chosen this year to receive the award, which came with a cash award, a trophy, a pin and an all-expense paid trip to Chicago that was held March 1-4 that she and her husband Jim attended. The event was hosted by National McDonald's Senior Management Representatives. Also attending was Paul and Michelle Siegfried, owners of a McDonald's in the Canton area

Morrison has worked for McDonald's since 1980 and has been the store manager at the 3101 Cleveland Ave. NW location in Canton for the past two years.

She began her career as a manager 29 years ago at the Salem store.
