Salem

Menacing

At 4:08 p.m. Wednesday, police received a complaint advising that while at Walmart that a male subject had been at the store earlier in the day to cash a check, and the subject then became upset with store employees when he found out that there was a three dollar charge to cash a check. The subject made threats to the employees of coming and doing bodily harm to people because he did not get all his money. The subject left the store without any further problem.

Shoplifter

At 3:49 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to Walmart where loss prevention personnel detained Constance E. Adams, 2795 Creek Road, New Waterford, and Katie L. Osterling, 38195 Old St. Route 344, Leetonia, for attempting to leave the store with $36.65 in merchandise. They were taken to the police department, charged with theft and released on their own recognizance.

Harassment

At 7:52 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the the 1000 block of E. 4th St. regarding a complaint of a harassing phone message left on her answering machine. The message stated for her to look outside at a white vehicle and that they were coming to get the money. The number returned to Jamaica and police advised they would attempt to contact the number and stop the calls.

Crossing gate malfunction

At 5:55 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 800 block of S. Ellsworth Ave. where the railroad crossing gate was malfunctioning an contacted Norfolk Southern about it.

Animal

At 9:0 6 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 700 block of Prospect St. regarding a complaint of an animal chained outside without food, water or shelter and spoke to the owner who was outside with the animal. Police observed a dog house with two full dog bowls beside it. The owner was advised of the complaint and stated the dog is not left outside overnight.

Person to be removed

At 12:07 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 100 block of W. 4th St. where the complainant was unhappy with the behavior of her two male guests so she wanted them removed from her apartment. All were found to be intoxicated and the two male subjects left without incident and were advised to stay away the rest of the evening.

Theft

At 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 600 block of E. State St. where the complainant advised several items were removed from the business.
