COLUMBIANA- The Columbiana Public Library will host a free movie for children of all ages at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 10. The movie is about New York Zoo animals stranded in Madagascar who manage to leave the island but end up in Africa instead of the United States. Free popcorn and drink will be provided. CANFIELD-Mahoning County Career and Technical Center will host an open house from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 12. Parents of students interested in attending MCCTC in their junior and senior year are invited to attend to learn more about the 24 career tech and college tech prep programs offered.

COLUMBIANA- The Columbiana Public Library will host a children's program for grades kindergarten-fourth based on the Geronimo Stilton book series from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Feb. 18. The program will include trivia, crafts and activities. Books are on display in the Children's Department for those wishing to acquaint themselves with the characters. Registration is required. 'Get jump on college'

Wellness program awards
LISBON- The winner of the first session of the "Dump Your Plump" worksite wellness program for area school districts was a team from the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center in Lisbon. Debbie Pietrzak from Salem Community Hospital presented awards to Donna Moser, CCCTC contest coordinator, and members of the winning team, Luann Kraus, Jeri Glenn, Carol Henrich, and Gayla Thompson, Liza Bruzzese, Bob Conner, and Ellen Voorhees. Seventy-five participants from three Columbiana County school districts, Salem, Crestview and the CCCTC, participated in the first session of the worksite wellness program and lost a combined total of 474 pounds during the 10-week contest. The second session of the program kicked off in mid-January with 75 people participating from teams at Southern Local, East Palestine and Lisbon school districts. The worksite wellness program is administered by SCH through a grant from the Ohio Hospital Association's Foundation for Healthy Communities.
