Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Shoemaker of Howland, formerly of Columbiana, celebrated their 50th anniversary on June 21 at DiLucia's in Warren. Approximately 200 friends and family attended.
The former Margery F. Burbick and Mr. Shoemaker were married on June 15, 1958, at Good Hope Lutheran Church in North Lima. Pastor Gross officiated.
The Shoemakers moved to Warren from Columbiana in 1960. They are active members of Living Lord Lutheran Church in Howland.
Mr. Shoemaker retired from Ohio Edison Co. in 1994 following 38 years of service. He grew up with one sister in North Lima.
Mrs. Shoemaker was employed for 38 years at First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Warren, retiring in 1997. She and her 11 brothers and five sisters lived on a large farm in Columbiana. After her retirement, she worked part time for the Scrappers and was a consultant for Henn Workshops for five years.
Although the couple has no children, they have many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The Shoemakers love to travel, play cards and all sports.
They are especially avid fans of Warren Harding Raiders.
