GREEN TOWNSHIP-There will be a funeral service at noon Monday, July 14, 2008, in the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel for Jean "Betty" B. Jones, 93, who passed away at 1:13 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2008, in her home.
Betty was born June 11, 1915, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Smith and Patty (St. John) Sibbet and lived in the area all of her life.
Betty attended Youngstown College for two years and worked for several doctors' offices. She retired in 1971 from the South Range Local Schools.
She was a member of New Life Assembly in Poland and was a former member of Real Life Assembly Church in Salem and the Old North Church in Canfield where she was a financial secretary, Sunday school teacher, youth leader, nursery coordinator, and sang in the church choir.
Along with her husband, Betty had 31 foster children throughout the years.
She is survived by her husband, Earl L. Jones whom she married July 14, 1940; three children, Susan (Charles) Withers, Rebecca (late Jerry) Yeagley, and Benjamin Earl (Carrie) Jones, all of Greenford; seven grandchildren. Michael, David, Russel, and Sharon Withers, Trent and Corey Yeagley, and Nathaniel Jones; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara McDonough; a brother, Richard Sibbet; and an infant brother Robert Sibbet.
Family will receive friends on Monday, July 14, 2008, from 11 a.m. until the service in the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Rachel and Tara Ashby for their loving care.
