Mr. and Mrs. Howard C Wilhelm celebrated 67 years of marriage on July 6. A private family celebration was hosted by their children.
The former Gladys Bailey and Howard Wilhelm were married July 6, 1941, at St. Jacob's United Church of Christ in Leetonia. They met at St. Jacob's Church and participated in the Christian Endeavor and attended the National Christian Endeavor in Atlantic City on their honeymoon.
Mr. Wilhelm worked with Franklin Furniture prior to World War II. During World War II he served in the 5th Armored Division and assisted five different chaplains. Upon his return after World War II, he was employed at Spatholt's Hardware and attended a Government Issued Program. He worked for Spatholt's for 38 years until retirement.
Mrs. Wilhelm was employed with her father, S.D. Bailey, at Sandy and Beaver Insurance Company. She then continued with Worthington Industries serving in the accounting department until retirement.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilhelm have served in many community groups. They have both been long time Grange members holding various offices during their membership. Mr. Wilhelm has held offices in his Ruritan membership and achieved 45 years perfect attendance.
Mrs. Wilhelm has been a member of Eastern Star and also held various positions.
They now reside at Copeland Oaks in Sebring and enjoy volunteering their time in video work, Caring Friends, and worship committees.
They are the parents of Ronald (Judy) Wilhelm of Salem, and Dianne (Ed-deceased) Strunkenburg of Plain City, Ohio. Their grandchildren include Todd (Mindy) Wilhelm with great granddaughter Chloe of Salem, Kevin Wilhelm (deceased), and Kristen (Keith) Mullikin of Marysville.
