Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Chizmar of 7670 W. Pine Lake Road, Salem, observed their 50th wedding anniversary on July 5. A private family dinner was held at Harry and Jean's of Canfield.
The festivities were hosted by the couple's daughters and son-in-law, Michele and Robert Zwingler Jr. of Greenford and Lori Simmons of Washington, D.C.
The former Patricia O'Block and Mr. Chizmar were married on July 5, 1958, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Salem. Father J. Richard Gaffney and Father William Witt officiated.
The Chizmars also have three grandchildren, Chad, Ryan and Natalie; and a great-granddaughter, Payton Marie Zwingler.
Mr. Chizmar was a boilermaker at U.S. Steel-Ohio Works, retiring in 1978. He served n the Navy during the Korean War and is a member of American Legion Post 290.
Mrs. Chizmar retired in July 1997 from the South Range Local School District. She is a member of Ohio Retired Teachers Association and Mahoning Retired Teachers Association.
Mr. and Mrs. Chizmar are members of Alliance Area Senior Citizens and the church.
In attendance were Mary Lou Korenich of Greenford and Dr. Frank O'Block of Chicago, members of the original bridal party.
