Dale Lea Miller
SALEM— Dale Lea Miller, 40, of Salem, was taken home to the Lord on Friday following a six year battle with cancer.
Dale was born Nov. 3, 1967, in Salem, the son of Larry and Treva (Bush) Miller.
He was employed as a correction officer at the Trumbull Correctional Institution in Warren, Ohio, for the past 14 years, was a former member of the Salem Police Auxiliary and worked with the Salem Police Department as a dispatcher and patrol officer.
A 1986 graduate of Salem High School, he completed training with the Salem Police Department and the Ohio Department of Corrections Academy. He was a member of the Damascus United Methodist Church, performing in the church choir and volunteering with church’s youth department.
Dale enjoyed playing golf and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team.
In addition to his mother, Dale is survived by his wife, Jodi (Tausch) Miller, whom he married Dec. 16, 1995; a sister, Lois (Lenny) Neiderheiser of Salem; three brothers, David (Diane) Miller of Salem, Dr. Rev. James (Betsy) Miller of New Market, Md., and attorney John F. (Lisa) Miller of San Antonio, Texas; 17 nieces and nephews; and one great-niece.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Damascus United Methodist Church, 300 Valley Rd., Damascus, with Rev. Mick Foster officiating. No calling hours will be held.
