Edward E. Gerner

YOUNGSTOWN —Edward E. Gerner, 86 of 873 Matthews Road, Youngstown, died at 7:20 p.m. Monday at the Caprice Health Care Center in North Lima.

Mr. Gerner was born Sept. 12, 1921 in North Beaver Twp., Lawrence County, Pa, the son of John and Carrie Mack Gerner.

Mr. Gerner moved to New Springfield area in 1963. He retired in 1984 from Ohio Turnpike Canfield section, as a maintenance man. He had worked there 12 years. Prior to that he had worked in construction and he had also worked as the manager at the Petersburg Milling Co. of Bessemer, Pa.

He was preceded in death on Feb. 16, 2003, by his wife, Nonda Gerner. They were married Jan. 18, 1963. He is survived by two daughters, Lourine (Jack) Hayes of Bessemer, Pa., and Vada (Gilbert) Henshaw of Roanoke, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Arnold (Bessie ) Shotts of Youngstown and Marcella Perkins of New Middletown; ten grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the St. John Lutheran Church of Petersburg with Rev. Kenneth Hacker officiating. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
