Mr. and Mrs. Robert Walton observed 50th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Walton, 4660 Whinnery Road, Winona, observed their 50th wedding anniversary on May 3 at a dinner party on April 12 at their home. They also plan to take a trip to celebrate their anniversary at a later date.

The former Mary Anne Hinshaw and Mr. Walton were married on May 3, 1958, in a traditional Quaker wedding at the Sixth Street Friends Meeting in Salem. Their attendants were Norma (Hinshaw) Atkinson, the bride’s sister; and Homer Althouse, the bridegroom’s cousin.

The couple’s children and spouses are Gary and Stephanie Walton and Mike and Debbie Hanley, all of Winona, and Earl Walton of Rochester, N.Y.

The Waltons also have seven grandchildren.

Mr. Walton is the son of the late George and Gertrude (Stackhouse) Walton and stepson of the late Alice (Thomas) Walton.

Mrs. Walton is the daughter of the late Howard and Martha (Deweese) Hinshaw.

Mr. Walton retired from NRM Steel in Columbiana and Summitville Tile in Minerva in 1995. He is a member and former chief of Winona Volunteer Fire Department, a member of Hanoverton Masons and a former board member of Hall Park.

Mrs. Walton is a homemaker and a member of Winona Friends Meeting and Winona Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She also was a babysitter for over 20 years. Prior to her marriage she worked at Crane-Deming in Salem.
