NEW YORK (AP) — Two law enforcement officials say at least one of four people arrested on New York City drug charges in the wake of Philip Seymour Hoffman's death investigation had the actor's cellphone number.
The officials spoke Wednesday to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to talk about evidence in an open investigation.
The Oscar-winning actor was found dead Sunday in his Manhattan apartment with a needle in his arm. The medical examiner's office says more tests are needed to determine how Hoffman died but police believe he may have overdosed.
The law enforcement officials say the four were arrested Tuesday night in lower Manhattan after a tip that they may have supplied Hoffman with drugs.
