It's not just a bypass but a route connrecting Canton, Alliance ,Salem and hopefully Rt 11.

All the big cities have bypasses but are connected to major arteries

Yeah, but I thought our bypass would just be between here and Alliance.

I thought the purpose was to bypass small towns. Not to bring business in, but to let trucks avoid slowing down to 35 mph in Damascus and 25 mph in Salem.

No buss would benefit.

Now how you come up that assumption ?

Buss. tend to locate where they can move their good the easiest or cheapest.

Highways ,Airport .Rail etc.

Salem has nothing .Atleast the people down south are thinking. It would open a corridor between Canton {Rt 77 } and Pittsburg and Northwards

You may be right, but that is a depressing thought.

"They believe this would open up the corridor to economic development, especially given the oil and gas drilling going on in the region...

donations from businesses that would benefit to help in raising $4.5 million needed to qualify for $40 million in federal funding to pay for the preliminary engineering work.

The project comes with an estimated $700 million price tag"

I guess a lot of people would benefit--I guess ts that may answer why we don't have 62 done--no businesses along there benefit. It would just keep some truck traffic from going thru town.

My husband and I were sitting in our car on the portion of the 62 bypass watching the sunset one night. (Had just come back from vacation where one of my favorite things were the sunsets)

Perry Township cop pulls up behind us to check things out.

Terribly embarrassing when my husband said we were just two old people parking.

Cop laughed and left. Was before I was reading online news--sure hope we didn't make the police report!

Where is all the support of local officials to get something going on 62,

Buss. looks for this type of infrastructure to transport their goods

Even if the 4-lane isn't feasable or a priority, at least get a "super 2" (or freeway standard 2-lane) put in, with the right-of-way bought or at least planned to be bought to expand to a divided highway later. This will at least get a more direct, truck friendly highway installed, with all of the framework to expand to a 4-lame as the money becomes avialable.

Of course, Route 62 from West Branch HS to Alliance has had a secured and graded right-of-way setting there for 45 years, and we see where that has gone...
