According to the article, the hospital leaked that the proposed contract led "to a top wage of $34 per hour" and "up to 28 paid vacation" days. It did not state what the bottom end was for the wages or vacation time. Not all of those nurses are going to be taking home the top end and the article did not state what qualifications a nurse had to have to earn the top end. We don't even know for sure what the dispute is that got the contract voted down. My assumption is that there may have been some non-pay issues that didn't set well with them.(Like 16 hour shifts...Huh?...That's apparently why they need a union.)

A month off with pay, plus holidays. And then if they do work the holiday they get paid 2 1/2 times their salary. Oh, and don't forget that they can get $34/hour. UNIONS HAVE NO PLACE IN HEALTHCARE!!!! NURSES SHOULD PROVIDE CARE, if they strike they should be fired and have their nursing licenses placed under disciplinary action. And yes I am a nurse and I do believe this is the right thing to do. Nurses deserve a fair wage and should be compensated for regular and overtime for hours beyond 8 hours in a shift.

Lets dump some more blame and work on the nurses. More patients to care for in the same amount of time.

Maybe if these hospitals would get rid of some of it's overhead and run it like a buss,. But hey.

$2o for an aspirin isn't bad .
