rpm, you're right about the 'blaze of glory' thing. One of the reasons for White Hats to get their CCW.

:)

Well, better the Sheriff to have it than say, "Code Pink". Not in my backyard! :)

Personally, I think this thing would look pretty sweet in black with the star and gold stripes on the sides.

Numnudz, I must also respectfully disagree. As long as the mental health neglect continues in this country, we will see more and more armed suspects trying to escape their demons in a twisted blaze of glory. In addition to what the sheriff said, this vehicle can be useful in safely transporting an entry team across open terrain to the front door of a barricaded shooter as well as evacuating civilians from an area that is not yet secure. I really don't think having one of these vehicles in the county fleet makes the sheriff's office more militarized.

And what the hello does re-vitalizing homegrown terrorist taskforce that was under Bush have to do with our local police officers? I know, do you?

Grant are you seriously one of those people that has fallen in bed with the red necks that think Obama is creating a homegrown task force to come after you because he thinks you are a Republican terrorist that is trying to overthrow the Government with your love for God and guns? L.M.A.O.

The states would never allow it...HA! That's a joke right? Read about Eric Holder's new homegrown terrorist taskforce? You're so naive.

"The police do not need to be even more militarized than they are now."

Numnudz I am going to be honest. I don't understand that statement. Maybe it's just me. Every time I hear somebody use that statement I don't get it. What is that suppose to mean. I look at the Sale police department and what is it that makes them military? I would appreciate your view. Maybe I am wrong. I just don't see it.

Is it because they now carry weapons that almost get them equal in power to the criminals with their big guns? What? I am not even sure how this vehicle makes them more militarized.

Numnudz that's fine you can disagree. I won't pout over it I promise. This is what makes America great. Debate is healthy. At least you are respectable when it comes to disagreeing.

As for why you do disagree, that is okay. I don't care what Obama says for one reason and one reason alone. Police are not Federal. They are governed by State. Obama shooting his mouth off with that statement was laughable at most. Oh he would love to take control of local and State law enforcement but it will never happen. The states won't allow it. This equipment was not an attempt to turn law enforcement into military. This was because the Police fought for it and so did a lot of local governments. Instead of this equipment paid for by the tax payers and sitting in some field rusting away they decided it could be utilized for local emergency preparedness.

"Yap, yap, yap. You may not be rich but you're certifiably psychotic."

Like normal and predictable, there is Grant's famous but boring quip to get out of answering any questions thrown at him. L.M.A.O.

I know Grant there will come a time when you will remove the beer box from your head and grow up into the real world and I have all the patience in the world. LOL

One of the few times I disagree with you, WatchDog. The police do not need to be even more militarized than they are now.

This is crap. The cops don't need military equipment. Enough dogs and innocents are getting shot already.

But Obama said we need a civilian force equal in power to the military.

Why?

If I was a rich woman, Salem PD would have TWO of these. One because they would need it and a second one just to tick you off...LOL!

Here we go again...Grant, one more time. I was NOT critical of the Fire Department needing a new truck to replace the hunk of junk that they had. I was critical of the fire department getting that specific truck they ended up with. If your going to continue to criticize me at least get your freaking facts straight especially if your going to disagree just because it came from me.

Now you want to play cost effective game? $6000 for one of these to be parked at the Salem PD for emergencies that are unforeseen that means they have a vehicle to come put themselves between you and some idiot shooting at you or in case of a disasters, is a heck a lot cheaper than that almost 1 million dollar fire truck that weighs 2 times what that vehicle ways when it is fully filled with water.

Now you had no problem with the fire department getting that firetruck, why would you have a problem with the POLICE having this vehicle? $6000 vs $1 million. Oh please Grant enlighten us.

*****no we don't. And that's kind of funny from you after being critical of a new fire truck and wondering if it would tear up the roads.
