Salem man arraigned in attack on mother

They can only charge him with what the evidence allows. There are factors the investigators were probably looking at. They were in an argument, it was argument that she participated in with verbal threats and did she have an avenue of escape. It is a he said, she said. It is hard to prove attempted murder.

Its possible that the grand jury may have other ideas for what he should be charged with after they hear the case.

The prosecutor's office probably figured they had an easy, slam-dunk case if they charged under the lesser offense.

He'll never even do 8. He'll probably do 2 or 3. I just can't understand it, especially when his mom says he said he was going to kill her. And then on top of that he tried to kill himself. Seems like pretty clear cut attempted murder to me, not felonious assault.
