Ask most people what they believe is top priority at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and they are likely to say battling terrorists....

It was Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas) who used the inflated 100,000 number. notSocialist did not use that number, he simply repeated the false story.

NotSocialist, That is partially true. Immigration and Customs Enforcement under the Obama administration do count those removals in its total deportation figures. The problem with the claim, though, is that the policy isn't really an Obama-era conspiracy -- it's just the way deportation numbers have been tabulated for years. The George W. Bush administration also counted immigrants caught at the border, in both general enforcement and as part of a program started in 2008 called the Alien Transfer Exit Program. Bush also deported fewer people per year -- far fewer in some years -- than the current administration. The Judiciary Committee said its internal documents showed that not counting people deported from the Alien Transfer Exit Program would reduce total removals by about 37,000 -- from 397,000 to 360,000, not the inflated 100,000 that you posted.
questioner, After some more fact checking, I acknowledge your correction. You da man! or rather You da woman! :>) I still stand by the deportation numbers in that this President is on pace to deport 56% more illegal aliens than President Bush did.

Actually, Obama has increased the Border Patrol only modestly since it nearly doubled under George W. Bush, when the number grew from 11,264 in 2005 to 20,119 in Oct. 2008. Under Obama, the number went up to 21,444 by 2011.
"Since when is this Administration enforcing immigration laws?" You are certainly entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts. "Obama is negating immigration laws by imperial decree!" What imperial decrees has Obama made in your fantasy world? In 2008 under President Bush there were 17,499 border patrol agents. In 2012 under President Obama there were 21,394 border patrol agents. That is a 22% increase in border patrol agents. As far as deportation goes, President Obama has averaged 32,886 deportations per month versus 20,964 deportations per month under President Bush. That is a 56% increase in deportations.
"Since when is this Administration enforcing immigration laws?"
Ah, but now there is a new form for employers to use--that will handle it.
But, regardless of how I feel about immigration laws, I disagree wholeheartedly with a president who says (and he did), "I don't like 'em so I'm not gonna enforce 'em."
Yes, Jeh Johnson deviated from his predecessors' stated priorities by listing counterterrorism third instead of first. Some 40 percent of the senior leadership positions are vacant at the department responsible for enforcing immigration and trade laws, securing the nation's borders, protecting the president and countering drugs and terrorism. And it has long been ranked among the federal agencies with the lowest morale. So instead of giving lip service to the primary mission of the Department of Homeland Security, he at least was honest enough to state that the first priority should be to make sure the Department of Homeland Security has the tools to fulfill its mission. Anyone can drive off to work in a car with four flat tires. A true leader will fix the flats before he attempts to drive the car to work.
Employee, by the 1st workday, has to show both driver's license and social security card. Both employee/employer have to write down the numbers for them. (A US passport works too.) You have at attest all is true. (You have to have a translator sign if English is not good.) You have to show how you know they are allowed to work in this country if they don't have a driver's license--see a birth certificate, etc. (That's what the 3rd sheet explains)
Is that intrusive? It is a pain. Does is prevent undocumented workers?
Here's how the form is labeled:
Department of Homeland Security
US Citizenship and Immigration Services--
Employment Eligibility Verification
questioner, what kind of information are they looking for?...or, is there a form number we can look up online to see a copy of the form?
A little clarification on my last post: One of the additional pages is for the employee to fill out and one is for the employer.
Anyone either take a new job since March or hire someone? Along with the W4 you fill out, there are 2 new pages to fill out (and 1 more with explanations) from the Department of Homeland Security.
All for "proof" of the right to take the job. (With the threat of fines or imprisonment for something not truthful.)
I didn't say that now did I ?
I said addressing personal issues might make the agency better and more efficient.
I don't think security is going to be put on the back burner,But then I forget who i'm talking too .
