I was just thinking how nice it would be if that sweet innocent child who was taken from us under such circumstances could get the benefit of a continuance. These postponements are nothing more than legal maneuvers to maximize the time the killer can remain out of jail. My thinking is simple, if he admitted to the crime, admitted he was drinking, admitted he left the scene, because is an irresponsible coward who had the sense enough to pull over to adjust his headlight, then he should be given his trial and sent away where other people who are cowards and are irresponsible go. It is time to give this family some sense of closure, if that is even remotely possible, and give the community who has lost one of it's children due to the act of a complete and total reckless moron. As my Mom used to say, Buck up!

I can still see her beautiful face plastered on the front page. My heart breaks for her family.

The State is going for the gusto...aggravated vehicular homicide. Guess the plea bargaining didn't pan out. That is a rough charge and that means the State is going to use his past track record.

If the prosecution can win this he is going to get anywhere from 10 to 15 years. It does carry a mandatory prison term. If Pike doesn't play softy and slap on the wrist for which he is notorious for. In this case though, 15 year sentence, it just doesn't seem to be enough. The fight is on. The defense is going to be for..."that dang kid messed up my headlight when she jumped out in front in me and caused me to hit her"!

This case is not going to be easy. This is not about his confessions. This is going to be about Olivia's action's and injuries that contributed to her death. That jury is going to be hit with everything.

Now the defense is bringing in an accident re-constructionist. Stall tactic? I don't know, that is what is used for jury persuasion.

The Judge did allow the postponement and the prosecution didn't seem to fight it...

...time will tell! Even if he walks, the public will never forgive him for his actions.

My guess is the defense will try to show the crash was the fault of the girl.
