How about cutting back on the $500 million being spent on a tank the army doesn't need or $35 million/engine the navy don't need or the millions being given to Afgan. every month. Plus all the money being given to country's who hate us.

Just cutting social programs doesn't fix the problem.

Wouldn't it be nice if every dept/group getting money scaled back their budget 2% (or 4%--I'd even settle for 1%). We've all looked at where we can cut back with our personal money, churches and other recipients of donated money have too--sure wish the govt would do the same with the rest of my money.

And, the 2% was off the expected "INCREASE" not an actual cut. Yes, ladybug, cut all unnecessary spending and then cut each department either a percentage or put it back to the States where it belongs.

Any 'cuts' made won't matter, until we get rid of baseline budgeting.

It is past time to cut back all unnecessary spending. The gravy train is about to derail. We can not continue to keep mounting up this massive debt. Like ladybug says just cutting social programs won't fix the problem although that is part of the problem, it is not the only problem. The government taxes too much and spends even more than that. Eventually it is going to bring this country down. But then maybe that is by design by those that would like to see this country go under.

Watched a very interesting Doc. on TV last night.

Was a discussion between experts on the possible collapse of our country, Listing 8 possiblities or a combination of the 8

Of course a total; financial collapse was 1 of the 8

It's a shame the leadership in Washington are more interested in the 2014 ,2016 elections, pushing their own personnall beliefs, without comprimise than solving some very pressing issues,

I think where headed for the dumps

These people agree on nothing.

Dems vs. reps. Conservatives vs. liberals. One lobbying vs another. What the house paases the senate rejects and visa versa.

Things that should have been resolves months and yrs. kicked down the road or delayed by a few.

Plus the news channels just compound everything. Sad !!1

I agree ladybug, but does this give you a hint why...

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP)6/26/13 — A poll finds that President Barack Obama’s job approval ratings are skidding among voters in Ohio, the swing state he carried twice.

The poll released Wednesday by Quinnipiac University indicates that 57% of voters disapproved of the way Obama is doing things as president, his lowest grade ever in Ohio.

The poll finds 40% approve of Obama’s job performance, with independent voters completely moving away from the president and his agenda.

The same poll earlier reported that Republican Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s approval ratings reached a new high.

And after yesterday's speech on shutting down coal and eliminating all those jobs, it should go even lower. Our country has been put in jeopardy of a complete meltdown.

And, the blame can be shared by all. The fed has been printing money which has made our dollars worth very little. The congress is stuck in the mud and having to deal with figuring how to get elected vrs doing what needs to be done and the President is in Africa.

Not a pretty picture.

And, we are now finding out that the government that we count on to protect us has been targeting political foes, reporters, news organizations, and generally, we the people for their own agenda and to scare people. And, by the Constitution, they are there to protect us!

But, when you find partisan's who will back Obama no matter what and are against any changes no matter what, they just add to the downfall we're in.

Here an example of the 8.

1) Our nations "drinking water " suplly. They listed Cal. as one state trying top recycle raw sewage,

Terrorism. All it would take is a small nuclear device placed in several cities to shut the whole country down.

Don't think these idoits wouldn't do it. Plus 6 more

Like everyone else Oh the presidents going here or the lazy --- is playing golf again.

Well good news the whole bunch is about to leave town for the Aug, recess. Lets see what get done or what gets shoved down the road until Sept and beyond.

All will set dead in the house.

Meanwhile the sequestor started by Obama and passed by 94 % of the house is about to cost our nation a reduction in troop levels and military spending costing us several hundred thousand ciliian jobs.

The coal industry ?

It has been on a slide since the elimation of coal furnaces, since foundries switch to electris melt.

Ship it overseas like everything else.

Most other electric company's have been switching to Nat.Gas

Are you concerned about the jobs or just jumping on the band wagon.

What about pollution and supposidliy rising sea levels on the east coast ?

Coal fired plants are the cleanest they have ever been and if coal mines stay open to ship their coal overseas, the plants there are dirty...thus his decision will harm the environment. This is political.

I'm a past farmer, hunter, a fisherman and love clean air and water. I also know this EPA mandate is purely political and will actually harm our world. Stop just disagreeing and help stop this.
