First, enforce gun laws on books

April 18, 2013

Mingo County, W.Va., Sheriff Eugene Crum might be alive today if an existing federal gun control law had worked as it was supposed to. That revelation came on the very day U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W....

What killings are you referring to Kozy? People die from gun violence every single day in this country.

The problem, Phoenix is that we know the laws put forth would not have stopped the killings. We also don't have records to show where bad people get their guns...do you know?

Oh, and I never claimed sites like Armslist were licensened gun dealers, but they do deal in the sale of guns, that's why they exist.

More guns are sold online through sites like Armslist then through licensed dealers, do you honestly think criminals don't take advantage of this loophole? It's like eBay for criminals!

"Ever hear of Armslist, one of the largest online gun dealers?"

This is not a 'gun dealer'. This is a classified ad site, like craigslist.

More obfuscation fron the left, thank you sunshine/phoenix.

"It's a website devoted to the private sale of guns and related gear, it allows private sellers to offer guns for sale to other private sellers, thereby circumventing federal backround checks. "

People have a right to dispose of their private property as they wish.

Unless the online sale is through a licensed dealer, no backround check is required. Ever hear of Armslist, one of the largest online gun dealers? It's a website devoted to the private sale of guns and related gear, it allows private sellers to offer guns for sale to other private sellers, thereby circumventing federal backround checks. It is by far not the only site of its kind on the web, maybe you should try doing some researching of your own.

" How many buy guns legally on-line, no backround check required. "

Buying online, the weapon MUST be shipped to a FFL gun shop, who performs the background check before the firearm is released to the buyer.

Have you ever actually checked this out, or just repeating what Obama and Biden keep saying, which is untrue?

Also, the rifles they are calling 'weapons of war' are not. They are not fully automatic machine guns. They are as like 'weapons of war' as an H3 is to a military Hummer.

HEADLINE: 8th grade student suspended, arrested over gun t-shirt

"When 8th grade Jared Marcum got dressed for school on Thursday he says he had no idea that his pro-Second Amendment shirt would initiate what he calls a fight over his First Amendment rights.

"I don't' see how anybody would have an issue with a hunting rifle and NRA put on a t-shirt, especially when policy doesn't forbid it," Lardieri said.

The Logan County School District's dress code policy prohibits clothing that displays profanity, violence, discriminatory messages and more but nowhere in the document does it say anything about gun images.

"He did not violate any school policy," Lardieri reiterates. "He did not become aggressive."

The hysteria continues.

NotSocialist, the 48,000 number from 2010 you quoted just shows that criminals will try to buy guns by any means. How many buy guns legally on-line, no backround check required. I'm not suggesting that universal backround check will keep guns out of the hands of every criminal, but even one is better then none. Prayers to the MIT officer and his family.

" your side is always claiming that universal backround checks will never work because criminals don't buy guns legally and therefore will not have to submit to them, now your claiming that they do, we'll at least 48,000 of them,"

First of all, my 'side' is that of law and order, and freedom.

Second, do you REALLY think, of a population of 300 million, ONLY 48,000 criminals tried to or successfully purchased guns in 2010?

Third, stupid isn't restricted to law-abiding citizens.

And fourth, your comment is just meant to disparage conservatives, and does not address the problem, which is the government does not punish those that commit these crimes, but wants to punish ALL the responsible, law-abiding citizens just to make themselves feel better, and be able to say they did something.

Just like ObamaCare, they want to do 'something', instead of the RIGHT thing.

If every criminal act required a new federal law to supersede the ones on the books it would only take a few hours until you would have a camera in your home and a response team to deal with you at any given time.

My problem was not the background checks because they might stop some people but the whole amendment went beyond that to making lists, etc. That scares me.

Of the 48,000 felons and fugitives that tried to buy a gun in 2010, and filled out the form, only 44 have been prosecuted by the Obama Justice Dept.

This is one of the major problems.

The government needs to enforce what we have before enacting new laws which all the writers admit would not have saved one child in Sandy Hook.

Why aren't they enforcing these laws. Any guesses, folks?

There was a board vote in Newtown School district (7 schools in all)in approval of resource officers, one armed one unarmed, in Feb. It's now put to the town to see if/how to budget in. It's not "law" yet. Probably will be, but don't construe the particulars.

And as I recall, funding for resource officers, armed or not, WAS included in the proposal put forth by the president. He is leaving that decision to the individual school districts. As he should.

Say, she looks pretty good with that AR-15!
