It should not be this complicated to expand your restaurant. It's like doing your income taxes. It should not be this complicated.

Mr Cahill, my condolences to you and your family for the loss of your father. I pray you find peace and comfort in these times.

Most respectively i question adding another dept within Salem's gov? i feel this would just be another layer of bureacracy in Salem's gov structure. There are systems and entities already out there that can provide this assistance. Of course one is SAIDC, another is the Business Resource Network. The purpose of the BRN is to help businesses grow/expand. Also, the Chef's Table was able to seek assistance with the state without having another layer of bureaucracy? Is it really necessary for another dept?

The city can not afford to properly staff the departments they have now. I think it is more important to get our police force up to the number of men needed and improve the infrastructure of the city. Expansion of government and having them get more involved in private industry, creating more government bureaucracy for businesses to have to deal with and that the taxpayers have to pay for,is a bad idea.

The City of Salem does not need their own buildings dept. They need the zoning dept. to do it's job.
