With all the concern about safety these companies ought to have their drivers dim their headlights when picking up garbage. I have on several occassions been on my way home from work during the "wee hours" on US 62 and between Damascus and Salem and I have almost hit workers coming out from behind their trucks. I can't tell if the truck is stopped or moving until I'm right up on it and then I can't see much of what's going on rear of the headlights if it is stopped.

The workers safety and lives are much more important than the inconvenience of being disturbed while sleeping.

Maybe we can have City council discuss the noisy trains running through the City at all hours when people are trying to sleep? Maybe they can discuss the noise from emergency services, fire, police & Medical transports when people are trying to sleep? Maybe they can discuss the noise these school buses make picking and dropping off these noisy kids when people are trying to sleep? Maybe they can discuss the noise that darn life flight makes coming in and out of Salem Hospital when people are trying to sleep? Maybe they can discuss these noisy Salem City workers taking care of our streets when people are trying to sleep? Heck, maybe we can do something about these noisy kids out playing during the day in the summer when people are trying to sleep?

Or maybe they can discuss the fact NOT EVERYBODY in this City has a 9 to 5 and weekends off life and tell this busy body to get real and send her packing for wasting Council's time!

Make that another one of Nestic's "anonymous" busy bodies tying up council!

One nigt a week this anonymous person and her kids gets woke up and loses 10 minutes of sleep? If I could be so lucky!

I believe that the police should force them to drive on the correct--the right--side of the road. I wish I had a dollar for every time I've been driving to work around 330AM and almost driven off the road because I see a garbage truck ahead of me, lights way up high, on the wrong side of the road, and naturally go to drive around him on the right side, assuming he is on the correct side of the road. What makes it worse is that his headlights are right in your eyes.

And I agree WatchDog, not everyone works 9 to 5. I wish the people would realize this when they start shooting off fireworks two weeks before the 4th of July and don't stop until a week afterward, and the police turn a blind eye, probably figuring, oh well, as long as they stop by 11PM or midnight, no problem, that's still a good 6 hours of sleep for most people. Not me.
