Did they notify customers about this increase and why with proper notification? A quick complaint to the State commission overseeing Utility customer complaints would start a keen little investigation in to this. Taxation without representation is a no no. Even when you acknowledge it is happening and you fail to correct it. Ouch.

Council members need to be reminded that our utility payments are not a "blank check" to do whatever they want to with. Council meetings are open to the public.

Nothing to see here. Salem uses it's water dept. as a cash cow too. The city would be in default without the unvoted water tax that funds politicals wish lists.

Let's do the math....My average water, sewer and electric bill in the great city of Columbiana generally runs betweeen $90 and $115 per month. However, my monthly bill for January jumped to nearly $200. I expected a slight increase because of Christmas lights, but a $100 increase was certainly questionable. Interesting that my February bill was back down to $112.
