The ex councilman who works at Home Depot? I'm pretty sure he's agreeing with bringing in the holiday inn express. However, why are u concerned with his opinion when he no longer has a say in the matter? Whether he's an employee of Home Depot or not, what are the employees or residents capable of doing to change their minds and allow the hotel on the property? Hmm residents of Salem will just find something to complain about after the hotel is built anyway. Salem isn't growing as fast as it should be because residents have nothing better to do than to complain about everything and anything!

OSU600 If your talking about Swager's comment: " "They" will tell you where and how to live." I understand perfectly who he is talking about just read it in context. Not saying that I agree with him, but he his speaking of "anyone connected to the sustainable development plan are the "they". I think it is pretty plain who he meant by "they".

Speaking the truth makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Sorry if pointing out that 95% of your posts are nothing but *itching and moaning about something (after we try to decipher what your point is in your ramblings) hurts your feelings.

Still waiting on who "they" are...

OSU600 did that comment you specifically made about me personally make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? If that is what you have to do to entertain yourself please feel free to do so...seriously, is that the best you can do?

"can Salem support a Holiday Inn" - I believe it's to be a Holiday Inn Express which is not a large faclity generally. There is no place for anyone to stay in Salem, unless you want to try the little B&B someone opened. If you invite anyone to come to town for any event, they have to find somewhere other than Salem to stay. Not to mention anyone coming to town on business.

Now, it seems like it's time to get the city involved as a mediator. New business is good, especially a top notch business like a Holiday Inn. This will bring in dollars from outside Salem along with added tax monies...a good thing considering the number of businesses that have closed.

Sometimes people need to step back, especially a big business like Home Depot. It would be far better to sit down a reason through something like this. As most know, the more businesses in an area add to sales, not reduce them.

Concerning whether Salem can support a Holiday Inn is on Mr. Herron. I'm certain he's done his homework.

That Home Depot isn't many peoples' favirote anyway due to it's limited selection (it always ends up as a trip to the Aliiance Lowes or the larger Boardman Home Depot), this is just the icing on the cake.

Thanks for all your support, Im not going to take no for an answer, Home Depot is being ridiculous and if they want bad promo there going to get it, they support gun stores, curves and detailed things on there restrictions but never mention a hotel ? never thought a big business like I have proposed would be an issue big business should never have control over jobs and growth. Thanks Rodney Herron

I thought Mr Kosiba(Mr Economic development) had this all handled. How many tax dollars is he getting a year? How many jobs can he take credit for creating so far?

Just one more thing. Which ex city councilman was it that worked or works at Home Depot? Wasn't he the one that was for business retail growth in Salem? Wonder what his opinion is in this matter?

Welcome to why we have stagnant growth in Salem.

I wonder if Home Depot understands that having their business in this city is a privilege. I wonder if they have ever heard of the word BOYCOTT. If I was Home Depot, I would tread lightly, this community could make or break you. You better start playing nice. The natives are getting restless with this nonsense that is destroying this city.

"Unfortunately, we don't believe this particular property is a suitable location for a hotel, and we believe it would have a diminishing effect on our business."

How?

"Who is this "they" that you are so paranoid about?"

Isn't amazing how taxpayers that own this city try to voice their opinions and ask questions are often referred as "paranoid"?

Anything connected to the sustainable development should never be allowed to gain a foothold in the city. They will tell you where and how to live. Where and how you can travel and work. They will control as many areas as people let them. Agenda 21
