Start enforcing the laws,.Thats funnie.

Just how much ground do you feel 4/shift can cover.

You worry about 1 intersection. Every day i pass people trying to drive with a phone stuck to their ear, people texting, kids thinking that sign means slide tires on pacement,,The person driving 20 in a 35 zone or 90 in a 555.Accid happen

Seems to me it is the people driving on S E Blvd with the problem. The are the ones that are not stopping and waiting till it is clear to go. You can put up all the signs, flashers and rumble strips you want and if people are not going to obey the stop signs those things are not going to change them. The problem is drivers with no respect for the traffic laws, which just reflects the general attitude of a lot of people about everything these days. I am sure these same people are running stop signs elsewhere. Start enforcing the laws in all areas of the city and people will get the message you better follow the traffic laws in Salem or you will get a ticket. It all boils down to having enough police officers on duty that want to do the job properly. Stop wasting the policemen's time by sending them on frivilous calls and have them start enforcing existing laws and we will see a big change in Salem in all areas of the city not only in traffic but in crime too.

Never said they were breaking a law but its a pretty solid indication of how aware people are of their surroundings. It's incredible how much bad driving there is everywhere.

Seriously, if this was an unsafe intersection that had objects that clearly obstructed a driver's view in any direction, I would understand all this fuss but this isn't even the case. I can't believe that the city is even entertaining this.

The law is already very clear. You must maintain control of your vehicle at all times. Why do you think all States are doing away the word...Accident and call them...Crashes?

"Seems an awful lot of people don't pay any attention to signs, how many times have you been behind someone driving 40 in a clear 55 on Rt 62?"

Annoying isn't it? But unfortunately, they are not breaking the law.

ts1227, you are probably right, they will take this mole hill and turn it into a mountain, waste tax dollars with that pat us on the back, "feel good" vote grabber.

That's why Salem NEVER has any money!

Seems an awful lot of people don't pay any attention to signs, how many times have you been behind someone driving 40 in a clear 55 on Rt 62? Like I said, can't fix stupid. It's just a small example of people looking for government to get into issues they can't solve.

I understand WatchDog, but it's obvious that they plan to do something, and I think the lighted signs would be the most bang for the buck, thus minimizing the inevitable cost with the best result.

People don't even comprehend what traffic devices are used for. They are for traffic control...NOT GUARANTEED TRAFFIC SAFETY.

Just because you sit a traffic light and that light changes green for you to proceed is that difficult to look both directions and make sure that the idiot approaching the red light stops. Good God people start using those brains GOD GAVE YOU!!

This is why we have no money for Salem because we waste so much money on stupid things.

I say turn our boys loose at the police department and let them drive home the message...you want be a careless driver and break the laws in Salem...you PAY for it and by a FINE.

Salem needs to yank back in their own municipal court and start effectively using it to collect on these fines and use them as revenue. That would drive out half the scumbags in Salem alone and straighten up these spoiled Chief Floor residents that got away with it under his command. I'm sorry but it how I feel.

I'm supporting JT and the troops.

Grant I agree with your comment and only a part of ts1227's comment. Not because he is wrong, it would be a band-aid fix but not a solution. No disrespect ts1227 intended, I swear before you get mad at me. It just more money thrown at another wasted attempt. It a local intersection. I'm guessing, don't claim to know it for sure but every crash at the intersection has involved LOCAL DRIVERS.

We can't keep babysitting and pulling our hair out, trying to take control of handful of "careless" drivers.

Grant you make it through that intersection each time. You know the intersection has had problems. That means your a good driver and you use common sense every time you approach it. That tells me, that YOU do not proceed unless you are absolutely sure your path is clear whether you are driving on Franklin or approaching the stop sign on S.E.B.

I can not get my head wrapped around how there could be that many crashes at that CLEAR INTERSECTION. Nothing blocks a drivers

Agree completely that "can't fix stupid" is the main issue.

Speed bumps?!

Bottom line is, the city government can't fix stupid. Most of the accidents or near accidents I've ever seen are because of one driver being completely stupid.

I don't think they should do anything, and if anything, maybe just put some new signs up that show that it isn't a four way stop. Something like ts mentioned. That's it. And I drive through that intersection every single day.

Anyone who has been through East Liverpool going to Mountaineer knows, unless you're driving blindfolded or hammered drunk, these signs are can't miss.

Put in some of the newer warning signs they have now that have flashing LED's on the outside edges, like down in front of East Liverpool at the hospital crosswalk.

Put in flashing "intersection ahead signs" on Franklin, and flashing stop signs on SE Blvd. I've seen those 2 signs in flashing LED form before, so I know they exist.

They run off of solar (as every one I have ever seen has a panel attached, and LED's take very little energy), they can't be that expensive to buy or run.

Lewis Dowd said he was glad to hear he could get permission to park on the street for an event, but he still questioned where it's written that there's no parking.

Somebody take Dowd a copy of the "rules of the road". If the streets are not clearly marked with parking spaces that allow clear passage with moving traffic in both directions...it's no parking, it's no parking, it's no parking...s.uck it up. sry, i couldn't resist!
