Salem News Jan 6 "The city government ended 2012 with a more than $1 million carryover to start 2013, but city Auditor Betty Brothers said being conservative is still the game plan she's recommending for this year.

"My advice is to do business as usual and be conservative. We can't throw caution to the wind now that we have this carryover," she said Friday." Jan. 10, well, lets spend all this money on this audit. 4 days to burn a hole in somebody's pocket. What a bunch of clowns.

My thought exactly salem4ever....the 2M carryover....hmmmm does Salem have a NEED to be given 70,000.00???

Republicans, a funny breed...."we don't want any new taxes...we don't want the taxpayers to have to pay for any more services to the citizens for any reason. What's this you say? Grant Money?? Loan Money from the Government?? Get out of my way, I'm first in line for that stuff!!" !!! Two faced is what they are!! What's good for me is good for ME, not you!!

Ahh...liberals. Math is never your strong suit, but I have to ask something very serious:

Do you REALLY have a problem with a government running efficiently and still wanting to make sure they're doing the right things with your money?

If your comments aren't idiotic blind party allegiance then I don't know what is. Nothing that you said even makes a bit of sense...

Mingus, You make no sense. If you haven't kept up with the news, don't comment. The loan for the performance audit was to be over 70,000.00 The city has a carryover of over 2 MILLION!!! Now who needs a math teacher???!!!! Or do you not get the concept of, if your bank acct. has over 2M. collecting dust, why do you need a loan/grant from the state or federal government?? I can't spell it out for you any other way. The city does not warrant a loan or grant based on the reserves. GET IT???

$1 million carryover.

I am still trying to get my head wrapped around how we went from the dire threat of them trying to raise taxes and desperation of needing an audit done to this? Where did all this magical money come from?

Makes one question who the real tax cheats have been?
