Burning moneyWed, April 23, 2008 @ 7:52PM I didn't used to complain about rising gas prices. I certainly didn't like expensive gas, but I could deal with it. Gas at $2.50, then $2.89, then $3.10 just didn't seem so totally unreasonable to me. But when it jumped from $3.10 to $3.50 seemingly overnight, I reached my breaking point. But what does that mean? Am I going to drive less? Not likely. I already drive as little as possible. There isn't much I can do to reduce my driving. Am I going to get a more fuel efficient car? Not feasible. With all the money I'm wasting on gas, how will I ever be able to set any aside for a new car? So I'm screwed. Like most people, I'm going to have to suck it up and pay a fortune to fill up my tank. Bullpen blundersMon, July 21, 2008 @ 10:45PM Can the state of Ohio buy a relief pitcher? Please? The Cleveland Indians' 2007 bullpen was sick. Rafael Betancourt, Rafael Perez, Joe Borowski — all semmed untouchable. Even if they did get touched, they found ways out of it to secure the win. The Cincinnati Reds used David Weathers in the closers role in 2007 with fairly decent success. He likely would've had a lot more saves had the Reds actually been winning in more games headed into the ninth. Now Ohio is stuck with Francisco Cordero and whoever Tribe manager Eric Wedge wants to call in from the bullpen. Cordero blew his second save opportunity in his last three tries on Monday. Last I checked that was his sixth blown save on the year. The Reds are five games under .500. If Cordero could do anything besides throw batting practice fastballs, maybe Cincy could protect a win. While the Reds record isn't entirely to blame on Cordero, for Cincy fans, myself included, every time his name has been called in recent weeks, a feel
